Whole shrimp rice and Hawaiian pizza in Dongseong-ro, Daegu: Dana

Out in downtown Daegu for the first time in a while, looking for a Western restaurant with good vibes 🤍🤍 I found Dana Dongseong-ro Main Branch while searching for Dongseong-ro restaurants and went to check it out :)

From pasta to pizza, steak to rice dishes, the menu is varied and the prices aren't intimidating, so this place seemed perfect for a group ordering a bunch of different things to share ☺️☺️ The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was way better than I expected.

Location and parking for Dana Dongseong-ro Main Branch

📍 Dana Dongseong-ro Main Branch / 12-24 Dongseong-ro 2-gil, 2nd floor, Jung-gu, Daegu. It's tucked inside the yasigol alley near Tongsin-golmok.

🚗 Parking — since it's right in the heart of Dongseong-ro, there's no dedicated parking lot. If you're driving, I'd recommend using a nearby paid lot. I parked at the nearby Geobuk Parking Lot and walked over, and this paid lot charged me ₩8,000 for under two hours.... no wonder there weren't many cars there..... (Please look into parking carefully before you go 🥲🥲)

The building itself is all white with floor-to-ceiling glass, so it really stands out even from a distance 🤍🤍 They're open for lunch too, so it's also a good spot for lunch in Dongseong-ro :)

* There's a tablet for taking your place on the waitlist. I made a Naver reservation ahead of time and visited basically right at opening haha.

Two-story atmosphere and seating

Walking inside, true to its all-glass exterior, the interior has a upscale feel too ✨

With its two-story layout, the atmosphere felt cozier than I expected 🤎🤎 There's seating on both the 2nd and 3rd floors, with decent spacing between tables and a variety of seat types, so it seemed like a good fit for friend gatherings or group meals. The vibe is clean without being too heavy, so I'd say it's also a good option for anyone looking for a blind date spot in Dongseong-ro!

Each floor has its own self-serve bar. Extra plates, forks, and knives are set out there so you can just grab what you need, and there were baby chairs available too :)

Overall the prices are pretty reasonable 🤍🤍 These days, an early-teens-thousand-won pasta at a Western restaurant with this kind of atmosphere is already decent, but Dana keeps even the pizza and steak prices from feeling like a burden.

Hawaiian pizza 🍕 It looked appetizing from the start. Served hot with that sweet pineapple and ham combo, it's a flavor you can't help but love if you're a Hawaiian pizza fan 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Butter garlic shrimp rice

Butter garlic shrimp rice 🍤 The shrimp here were big and there were more of them than I expected, so I was satisfied. I love shrimp, so I'm a total sucker for a dish like this ❤️❤️ The savoriness of the butter combined with the garlic aroma and a touch of sweetness came together really well overall. The shrimp were plump too, so you get a proper bite ☺️☺️ Since it's a rice dish, it doesn't overlap with the pasta, so it's great to order alongside other dishes when you're getting several things. I personally recommend this one for sure 👍👍

Shrimp amatriciana pasta

Shrimp amatriciana pasta 🍝 This one had a whopping 3 big shrimp too! It was great that the shrimp weren't chopped up small but left whole and plump. It's a tomato-based sauce, so it's tangy and clean-tasting, easy to eat without feeling greasy. And best of all, the portion was generous 🫢🫢

Overall thoughts

It felt so good to be out in downtown Daegu after a while, eating something delicious ❤️❤️ Overall, the prices aren't a burden and the menu is varied, so I think satisfaction would be even higher going with a group. Dana in particular has a two-story layout, so it feels more spacious than a typical small Western restaurant 🤍🤍 The atmosphere is also clean and cozy, so I'd recommend it as a date or blind date spot.

Great atmosphere, good prices, and the shrimp are huge too! If you're looking for an affordable Western restaurant with a nice vibe in Dongseong-ro, I recommend this place for sure 🤍🤍 (Portions are generous too, so if you're looking for a filling lunch spot in Dongseong-ro, give it a try)
