I'm here to introduce a Gyodong, Daegu restaurant doing something special with Chinese food!
Mirim Yangjang Daegu is a Chinese restaurant with a bit of a different vibe from your typical Chinese joint — it centers on Peking duck and also serves egg noodles, gwabaro (sweet and sour pork), and more.
Let me walk you through the dishes we tried, one by one~

Location and interior at Mirim Yangjang Daegu
It's on a corner, so it's easy to spot — there's also a street running along the front of the restaurant, so you can see it from far away.

As you can see, they sell Chinese dishes quite different from jajangmyeon and jjamppong — the food looks really good visually~

The interior is quite spacious. There are a lot of 2-person tables, so it looked great for couples to visit — I'd recommend it as a Gyodong, Daegu date spot~

Right as you walk in, on the left, there were plucked ducks hanging — kind of fascinating to see as you walk in, and it made my mouth water... haha

There aren't many Peking duck places around Dongseong-ro, and Mirim Yangjang is also a chain with many locations, so I guess a lot of people have visited.

I personally love an open kitchen, so this was right up my alley — the kitchen is also very clean~

Once you sit down at the table, they give you this piece of paper — it has info about the restaurant and an explanation of Peking duck. Worth referencing while you eat.
You wrap the skin of the kao ya (roast duck) in a wheat pancake, along with a savory sauce (yajang) and green onion or cucumber to cut through the duck's distinct smell.

You order by QR code — keep that in mind.

For basic side dishes we got peanuts and bean sprouts. The peanuts were just ordinary cooked peanuts, but the bean sprouts were really tangy and sweet, so I kept reaching for them.
What we ordered — Peking duck, siumai, egg noodles, and rim tonic

We ordered half a Peking duck, siumai, and a rim tonic. The prices seemed reasonable~

As soon as we ordered, they mixed the rim tonic right in front of us. I was curious about the recipe, but I looked away for a second and it was already done — haha.

How does the rim tonic highball taste?
It's a gin tonic-style flavor with orange notes and the cool freshness of mint candy — not too sweet, so it went well with the food. Thanks to the sweet-tart flavor, it was refreshing to drink.

Egg noodles from the review event
These are the egg noodles. If you write a review, you can choose between a drink or the egg noodles. Made from flour, water, and egg, the noodles are stir-fried with onion and bean sprouts.

Next to the highball, it looked really pretty! The texture reminded me of instant cup noodles, but the flavor of the noodles themselves was great.

The seasoning was salty, like yakisoba — a flavor I wanted to learn the recipe for! Really delicious.

Siumai
This is siumai — dumplings made with minced pork, shrimp, and vegetables inside.
There was a lot of juice inside, and the meat and seafood were in big chunks, so you could really feel the soft, springy texture.

Half a Peking duck — how to wrap it in a wheat pancake
Here's the main dish, Peking duck. The skin was glossy, so it looked great.

These are the vegetables and yajang sauce that come with the duck. Eating the duck with green onion and shredded cucumber supposedly gets rid of the duck's distinct smell. And the yajang sauce is savory and full of umami.

Put the vegetables and yajang sauce on the wheat pancake and wrap it up with the duck meat. Each pancake had a sheet of plastic laid underneath, so they didn't stick together when I picked them up — handy.

The skin was really chewy, so it had a nice bite, and it went even better paired with the meat. The meat was also juicy. The yajang sauce had a savory-sweet flavor with some tartness added in too — it reminded me of chunjang and soy sauce~

Final thoughts — if you want Peking duck in Gyodong, Daegu
Overall, the plating on all the dishes was pretty, so everything looked appetizing.
Mirim Yangjang Daegu is a place where you can try Peking duck, which isn't easy to find normally — there aren't many places around Dongseong-ro serving Peking duck wrapped in wheat pancakes, so it's fun and makes for a good Gyodong, Daegu date spot.
Personally, the egg noodles were so good that I'd recommend ordering them as a regular menu item, not just through the review event. Since every dish looked so pretty overall, if you're looking for a Gyodong, Daegu restaurant and want to try something special in Chinese food, I think it's worth a visit.
