Why I picked up sashimi in Jumunjin during our Gangneung trip

We drove from Daegu to Gangneung—it took about 3 hours and 30 minutes!!!!! It rained so heavily on the way that it was tough, but a huge thank-you to my boyfriend for driving. 🙇🏻♀️

There’s no sea in Daegu, so seeing the ocean has become an essential part of any trip away! While looking at the sea in Gangneung this time, I suddenly(?) wanted sashimi and drinks, so off we went to Jumunjin for takeaway sashimi 💨 Haesong Hoetjip (해송횟집)! We’re absolutely sashimi-crazy …!

To give you the conclusion first: the portions were generous and the selection was varied, so I was very satisfied 💯 It’s also somewhere I’d recommend to anyone who wants relaxed drinks at their accommodation while traveling.

Jumunjin is said to be especially popular with travelers, since you can look around both the sea and Jumunjin Fish Market!

We came because we wanted to take fresh sashimi back and enjoy it at our accommodation! You could check the menu from outside too, haha.

They even had today’s recommended menu like this!

The fish tanks were kept really clean too 🦀

Once inside, I found a neat space set up for enjoying sashimi and seafood!

There seemed to be lots of takeaway orders, and we were one of them too, haha. If you reserve before you go, they also provide a complimentary service item, so keep that in mind 📝

What came in the medium omakase takeaway set

The menu we chose this time was the medium omakase set! When I can’t decide what combination to get, I love a menu that lets me taste lots of different things 🧡

The medium omakase set came generously packed, so it was great for several people to enjoy together.

It was a takeaway order, so we had to travel back to our accommodation, but everything was packed neatly and easy to carry 🤍

If you want delicious sashimi and drinks at your accommodation during a Gangneung trip, I think using Jumunjin sashimi takeaway like this is such a great option 💯

I loved that, unlike a standard assorted sashimi platter, we could have so many varieties—red sea bream, sea bass, red croaker, sweet shrimp, and more 🤤

And here are the whelks and shrimp we got as complimentary items!

When you start getting a little tired of sashimi(?), have some seafood and you’ll be ready to start again. Everyone, please reserve ahead so you can get these too 🙇🏻♀️🧡

Especially recommended for anyone who wants fresh sashimi at their destination but would rather enjoy it comfortably at their accommodation than stay at a restaurant for a long time ✔️

The medium omakase takeaway from Haesong Hoetjip that we chose for this Gangneung trip was satisfying overall! We got to enjoy a generous range of sashimi, and eating it leisurely at our accommodation made the end of the trip feel even more special 🥹 Eating at the restaurant is great too, but like me, you may be really satisfied taking Jumunjin sashimi back to enjoy comfortably at your accommodation :-)
