Chinese dishes stir-fried to order in Bongdam
I visited Bobae Banjeom Bongdam Branch, a great spot for authentic Chinese food stir-fried one bowl at a time in Bongdam, Hwaseong! Here’s my review after having crispy tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour fried pork) and rich, wok-smoky jjamppong at Bobae Banjeom, a place known for its expertly stir-fried jjamppong!

Parking and opening hours
It is open every day from 11:00 to 21:00, with last orders at 20:40. There is space for around five cars behind the restaurant; if it is full, you can park on the nearby side streets!

Bobae Banjeom is across from Jungheung S-Class, and its green sign makes it easy to spot!

I visited on a weekday evening, and true to its reputation as a well-known Bongdam 2 District favorite, it was already buzzing with diners!

Seeing both dine-in guests and nonstop delivery orders, it really does seem like a beloved neighborhood restaurant - ✶ 。˚

An interior for solo meals and dining with children
I took some interior photos during a brief lull! Rather than the feel of a typical neighborhood Chinese restaurant, Bobae Banjeom has stylish Chinese-inspired décor with a distinctly retro charm!

With a variety of two- and four-person tables, it is comfortable for anything from dining alone to a small gathering!

High chairs are thoughtfully provided too, so it is a nice place to eat out comfortably with children! ໒꒱

Menu and tablet ordering

Signature dishes include beef jjamppong, seafood jjamppong, and seafood tray jjajangmyeon, plus plenty of noodle dishes and mains to choose from! Bobae Banjeom is a great-value Chinese restaurant. The tablet’s first-visit guide is so helpful, with useful points including the self-serve side dishes, a Naver review event, and free rice!

You can order easily from the tablet at your table!

For Bobae jjamppong, you can choose the standard flavor or spice levels 1, 2, or 3! 🔥 There is an extra charge starting from level 1, so keep that in mind when ordering. You can also choose between dipping the tangsuyuk in sauce or having the sauce poured over it—such a thoughtful touch! ໒꒱
What is at the self-serve station

The self-serve station has zha cai (pickled mustard stem), danmuji (pickled radish), onions, chunjang (black bean paste), and utensils neatly laid out! Free steamed rice makes the meal even more satisfying.

Each table has assorted sauces, so it is easy to add whatever you like - εïз ˖*

Thick, creamy jjamppong and generous Bobae jjamppong

The much-talked-about cream jjamppong at Bobae Banjeom surprised me with its overwhelming portion from the moment I saw it! Rather than a typical soupy jjamppong, it comes in a rich, thick cream-sauce style! ✶ ˚ At this point, I was wondering if they had given me an extra-large serving..!

The smooth, nutty cream flavor comes with jjamppong’s characteristic wok smokiness and spice, so it was less heavy than I expected! The rich buttery aroma and smoky flavor work beautifully together, and I think anyone who loves thick cream sauces will be satisfied. It also has squid and plump, large shrimp, making every bite fun to pick through! The onions are seriously crisp..!

Bobae jjamppong is truly generous, loaded with fresh seafood, crisp vegetables full of wok flavor, and meat -!! There are so many onions, which are the heart of jjamppong..!

The spicy, refreshing broth had a deep umami flavor, and the springy noodles absorbed it nicely, so I really enjoyed it!

Crispy yet juicy mini tangsuyuk
The mini tangsuyuk is an easy side to add without feeling like too much! Thick pieces of pork sit inside a golden coating that is crisp outside and moist within, so every bite is full of savory goodness!

It is delicious with the sweet-and-tangy sauce, but lightly dipping it in soy sauce makes it even better! If you visit Bobae Banjeom, definitely try the crispy tangsuyuk!

A free Americano after your meal
At the Bobae Free Café Zone, you can enjoy a free hot or iced Americano to suit your preference! Join the Naver receipt-review event and you receive complimentary fried dumplings or a drink, so keep that in mind when visiting. There is also an ongoing 10% discount for takeout orders!
