Hwaseong goat soup takeout for a family meal: Tongkeun Heukyeomso
In short
Tongkeun Heukyeomso Hyangnam Branch is a goat soup restaurant in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. I took home two extra-large goat soups, and my husband and our elementary-school-age twins happily mixed rice into the soup. Verdict: a hearty family restorative meal with almost no gamey smell and especially memorable meat and sauce.

My husband has been looking especially tired lately. I thought I should give him something restorative, so I prepared goat soup for the first time in a while. I didn't cook it myself, though. Haha. I neatly picked up two extra-large goat soups from Tongkeun Heukyeomso Hyangnam Branch (통큰흑염소 향남점).
I brought it to a rolling boil in an earthenware pot at home and set a proper table. Not only my husband but also our elementary-school-age twins ate it so well—let's get into this goat soup takeout review. ^^
What kind of place is Tongkeun Heukyeomso Hyangnam Branch?

Tongkeun Heukyeomso Hyangnam Branch says it uses young female black goats under 10 months old and makes its broth by simmering it in-house for 20 hours every day. I was looking for a good black goat place in Hyangnam and visited because it seemed perfect for a restorative meal.
It is on the first floor at 169 Samcheonbyeongma-ro, Hyangnam-eup, Manse-gu, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, and is about 100 m toward Samsung Electronics A/S from across the street from Balan Hanaro Mart.
Inside the restaurant and seating for groups

The restaurant was spacious and clean. There was plenty of room between the tables, so it looked suitable for a family meal as well as group dining or a company gathering in Hyangnam-eup.
House-made black goat extract

They also make and sell black goat extract in-house: ₩96,000 for 30 pouches. If you dine in, the owner gives you a small taste of the house-made extract. I took home the one the owner gave me to try. Haha.
Information on black goat benefits

Goat soup menu and choosing extra-large

Goat soup is ₩9,900 including rice, and there is a wide range of dishes, including goat yukgaejang (spicy beef-style soup made with goat), goat rib soup, seasoned goat meat, hot pot, and boiled meat. And honestly, the ₩9,900 goat soup may be a little small for an average adult man. Order the extra-large if you want a generous portion.

A serving of sliced boiled goat meat is ₩25,000, with a minimum order of two servings. I took home two extra-large goat soups that day.

Off we go home with our goat soup takeout~
Careful packaging, right down to the kimchi and sauce

Everything was packed very carefully. The goat soup came neatly with kimchi and dipping sauce, too.
When I opened the lid, there were heaps of green onion, chives, and perilla leaves! There was also a generous amount of goat meat underneath. The extra-large portion was reassuringly substantial from the start. There wasn't even the slightest fishy smell, either. I think that is because the black goats are under 10 months old.
Bringing it to a rolling boil in an earthenware pot at home

You can simply heat it up and eat it, but since it was a day for building my husband's strength, I even brought out an earthenware pot to make it feel a little more like eating at the restaurant. Haha.
Once it was bubbling away at a full boil, the broth became richer and thicker—it looked properly delicious, right?
A glass of black goat extract and a restorative meal for my husband
Before the goat soup, a glass of the black goat extract I had brought home!
Honey~♡ Your goat soup is served, hehe.

It feels quite like a restaurant at home too, right? My husband says he doesn't envy eating at the restaurant one bit. ^^

The broth was rich and savory from the first taste. There was barely any of goat's characteristic gamey smell, so it was easy to enjoy without feeling burdened. Tongkeun Heukyeomso's goat soup is the real deal!

Isn't the meat incredibly generous?
Above all, there was a huge amount of meat. Big pieces kept appearing, and perhaps because it had been simmered for so long, it was tender rather than tough. Anyone looking for a satisfying black goat meal in Hyangnam-eup would have a hearty meal here.
A sauce that is a perfect match for the meat
Wow~ this is seriously the best sauce I've had at any goat soup restaurant so far. Truly!!! It was so delicious dipped with the meat that I kept reaching for it. Haha. Tongkeun Heukyeomso Hyangnam Branch, saved in my heart ♡

The goat meat and sauce go together so perfectly. ^^
My husband buried his face in the earthenware pot and ate while sweating away, then mixed rice into it and finished a whole bowl! I served generous portions to our elementary-school-age twins too, and they happily mixed rice into the broth and ate it all up. Haha. I bought it to restore my husband's strength, but the whole family ended up feeling restored.
