Friday night bar seats at a Yongridan-gil izakaya: yukhoe, Hatpiendo
In short
Hatpiendo is a Japanese-style izakaya on Yongridan-gil in Yongsan, Seoul, a 3-minute walk from Samgakji Station Exit 3. On a Friday night the writer booked bar seats and ordered the Hanwoo yukhoe (raw beef) ending distilled spirits set for 54,000 won and abalone innards pasta for 23,000 won; the yukhoe came with gimtae (seaweed) gimbap and the pasta was nutty rather than fishy, both good with a drink. For two adults, two dishes and one bottle of spirits was just right, making Hatpiendo an easy first stop for the night.

What kind of bar is Hatpiendo on Yongridan-gil?
Hatpiendo is a Japanese-style izakaya in Yongridan-gil, just 3 minutes from Samgakji Station (Lines 4/6) Exit 3, so it's pretty easy to get to. I found this place while hunting for a Yongridan-gil bar for the perfect Friday night, and it has a strong Japanese vibe 🍻
There are so many good restaurants and atmospheric bars in Yongridan-gil that I always struggle picking where to meet friends, but I found Hatpiendo, which has tons of delicious seafood-based dishes!
The name itself, Hatpiendo — haha — kind of gives you the feeling it'll end your day happily, you know?

Inside Hatpiendo: atmosphere and seating
Hatpiendo has a menu posted on the first floor, so you can decide what to order before heading upstairs. Smart move putting the menu there, haha.
There's a bar table, tables for 2–4 people, and a slightly bigger group table. Overall the vibe felt cozy and stylish — more like an izakaya-restaurant where you enjoy good food alongside drinks rather than just a place to drink. Being Friday night, it was packed and lively!
Hatpiendo actually serves not just standard izakaya menu items but various Japanese-based dishes using seasonal ingredients. It seems like a great fit for anyone looking for a bar with a good atmosphere. 😊

Since it was Friday and I figured it'd be crowded, I booked the atmospheric bar seats.
Ordering by QR code or NFC menu

This place looked great for anything from dates to friend get-togethers. We sat down, scanned the QR/NFC, and looked through the menu one by one — there were way more side dish options than I expected, so we spent a while deciding, haha. Isn't picking the side dish always the part that takes longer than picking the drink at a bar...?
Even just the main menu was this long... full of dishes that basically demand drinks, haha. It's an izakaya so there's no soju, but they have these categories of alcohol:
- Highballs
- Distilled spirits
- Draft beer
- Whisky
- Sake
- Shochu
- Wine
Beyond the usual izakaya staples, there were also more unusual menu items like mackerel bong-chobap (rolled sushi) or abalone guts pasta, which got me excited. If you look up Hatpiendo reviews, the mackerel bong-chobap and abalone guts pasta come up a lot. We went with the Hanwoo yukhoe ending distilled spirits set plus abalone guts pasta!
Hanwoo yukhoe ending distilled spirits set (54,000 won)

First they give you an on-the-rocks glass generously filled with ice! And then . . . the Hanwoo yukhoe (raw beef) arrives.

That egg yolk color... the shine on the yukhoe... and the gimtae gimbap (seaweed rice roll) underneath is the real kicker.

The staff explained you should definitely eat them together — highly recommend following that advice!
Abalone innards pasta (23,000 won)

The abalone guts pasta has zero fishy taste and is packed with savory flavor! The portion might seem a bit small, but keep in mind it's meant to be eaten alongside other dishes rather than as a standalone main, so it's plenty filling that way.
The richness and savoriness were on another level. Nothing off-putting about the taste, so easy to eat. The drinks just kept going down smoothly!
How much should two people order at Hatpiendo?
For two adult women, two side dishes paired with one bottle of distilled spirits seemed like just the right amount. The dishes overall paired really well with drinks, and I liked that they weren't just aggressively salty or spicy but actually let the food's own flavor come through. So I think this place works fine as a first stop for the night.
Since Hatpiendo has such a wide variety of dishes and the food itself is genuinely tasty, it also works well as a dinner-plus-drinks spot. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for an atmospheric bar 🤩 It's not overly formal, but has just the right amount of ambiance, so it seems great to visit with friends or a partner. I've also seen reviews mentioning the window seats have especially good atmosphere, so keep that in mind when picking a seat.
Final verdict on Hatpiendo
If you have plans in Yongsan and want good food with drinks, Hatpiendo seems like a solid choice. It's close to Samgakji Station and surrounded by plenty of other good restaurants, so it's easy to pair with other spots on a Yongridan-gil bar crawl. A Yongridan-gil izakaya where you can enjoy great food and atmosphere ✨ That day, I had such a good time eating and drinking with a friend and chatting that I completely lost track of time, haha.
