Today's post is about eating Korean beef tendon hot pot on the outdoor terrace of Yesulgwan, a bar near Sungshin Women's University. The weather suddenly turned cool and I found myself craving soup, so I looked around and landed on Yesulgwan!

Eating on the outdoor terrace felt like a little getaway — loud music playing, and sipping that hot, plain-flavored bone broth felt amazing haha. The beef tendon hot pot is one of their signature dishes, made from broth they simmer themselves with real care, and I enjoyed it with side additions like ongsimi dumplings, kalguksu noodles, and egg porridge.

This is my review of Yesulgwan Sungshin Women's University Branch, a great atmosphere for friends, couples, or groups — a solid Sungshin Women's University group bar.

What is the outdoor terrace at Yesulgwan like?

Terrace seating at Yesulgwan Sungshin Women's University Branch

Yesulgwan Sungshin Women's University Branch is on the 1st floor with a terrace, so it had a relaxed feel. Past the terrace, further inside, there are even more tables, so it looks like it could easily seat large groups.

We arrived around 6:30 PM and there were only 3-4 tables occupied, but by the time we finished around 8 PM, it was packed with people! Basically full!!!! Great weather and great atmosphere made this Sungshin Women's University bar popular haha.

On top of all that, a wide range of drinks too~~~~~! We ordered the Korean beef bone tendon hot pot with added ongsimi and kalguksu noodles^.^

Chive kimchi side dish served first

The side dish: chive kimchi, with free refills

The chive kimchi arrived first!! The seasoning on it was so good! I planned to eat it alongside the tendon hot pot later haha. It tasted just as good as what you'd get at a Korean restaurant... even the side dish alone proves this is a Sungshin Women's University hotspot!!!

Mild Korean beef bone tendon hot pot: how it tasted

A pot of Korean beef bone tendon hot pot, already boiled
Hot pot filled with tendon, chadolbagi beef, and enoki mushrooms

The Korean beef bone tendon hot pot arrived^^ It came already boiled, so we just cooked the mushrooms a bit and dug in right away. It was a hot pot generously loaded with all kinds of ingredients in that delicious bone broth — tendon, beef (looked like chadolbagi, thin-sliced brisket), enoki mushrooms, chives, scallions, glass noodles, and more.

Even one spoonful of the broth made me think this would go great with drinks hahaha. I scooped it with the ladle and the amount of meat was insane 👍🏻

A ladle scooping up tendon and beef

There was a generous amount of tendon and beef! The chewy, slightly crunchy tendon kept coming no matter how much we ate. The tendon's bouncy, chewy texture was really its charm.

A bite of chadolbagi beef wrapped in chives
A spoonful of cooked chives and chadolbagi beef

I wrapped the lightly cooked chives around the chadolbagi and ate it together. The seasoning was just right — not too salty, not too bland, with a nice savory depth. The texture of the enoki mushrooms and chives was great too haha.

Hot pot ingredients topped with chive kimchi

I piled on some chive kimchi and took a big bite — the salty, savory chive kimchi added even more flavor to the plain-tasting hot pot. The kimchi was so good I asked for a refill.

The broth was rich and savory, so you just keep eating it 👍🏻 It would make a fantastic pairing with soju^^

Are the ongsimi and kalguksu add-ons worth it?

Added ongsimi dumpling add-on

Here's the ongsimi we added! Inside the chewy ongsimi dumplings there's a mandu-style filling. It felt like a cross between potato rice cake and dumpling ^^ There was something fun about picking them out one at a time haha.

Kalguksu noodles added into the hot pot

Next, the kalguksu noodles! They came pre-cooked, so you don't need to boil them for long before eating — okay! One serving of kalguksu was a huge portion haha.

I'd recommend adding the chewy yet soft kalguksu noodles and wrapping them with chive kimchi haha. Really soft and smooth going down 🧡 I'd recommend coming as a group and ordering a variety of things along with the beef tendon hot pot.

I originally planned to finish with the egg porridge too, but we were so full we gave up on it. The hot pot was already loaded with ingredients, and with the extra add-ons on top, the portion was huge ^^

Is Yesulgwan a good group bar near Sungshin Women's University?

A view I snapped while eating on the outdoor terrace~~! It really felt like being on a little trip somewhere. Like a street of pojangmacha (tent bars) by the beach, or being out downtown somewhere... haha. I'm glad I discovered such a relaxed-vibe bar near Sungshin Women's University~~~~~!!!

Last time I had the Korean pork belly kimchi grill, but it was chilly then so we ate indoors haha. Oh! I'd recommend the pork belly kimchi grill too ^^ Grilling kimchi with pork belly is just delicious! It comes out already grilled together, and I remember enjoying it a lot that time too. Coming back now in nice fall weather to eat on the terrace gives a whole different feel.

There was a group table in front of us, and as we were leaving, a group of over 10 people showed up, seemingly for a second round. This is a Sungshin Women's University bar that's great for accommodating groups, so keep that in mind.
