Hidongi Chicken Seokgwan Branch is a fried chicken restaurant in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul at 561 Hancheon-ro, 1st floor, right at the entrance of Dolgoji Market. It's open Tue-Fri 16:00-06:30 and Sat-Sun 12:00-06:30, closed Mondays. Parking is available, and you can pull over on the road at the market entrance.

This is Dolgoji Market near Dolgoji Station! I come here sometimes to grab side dishes, but tonight it was past 8:30pm and I was craving late-night chicken....! So I headed for Hidongi Chicken right at the market entrance 😚

At Hidongi Chicken Seokgwan Branch, takeout orders get ₩3,000 off one chicken, ₩7,000 off two. They've also got a new menu called Kkulmatdongi Chicken — sweet with a kick of spice...?! Such an intriguing menu.

I was looking at the menu to order and there's SO much on it!!! The solo half-chicken menu is such a genius idea... perfect for chicken-and-beer alone 🍗 I was eyeing the garlic soy and gochujang mayo flavors, but my husband said since it's our first time we should get half-and-half, so we settled on the half-seasoned, half-fried bone-in chicken (₩15,000). Don't forget the ₩3,000 takeout discount~~~~

They accept Onnuri Digital Gift Certificates and Seoul Pay too! 💸 There was also a draw event for takeout customers. First prize was a whole fried chicken!!! I thought about entering but they looked so busy, so I let it go for next time hahaha. Bone-in chicken takes 15 minutes to cook!!! Boneless chicken takes 10-15 minutes!!! They don't pre-fry, they fry fresh chicken the moment you order, so ordering ahead helps!

Off I went, humming along with my takeout bag~~~~ The smell of delicious chicken was so intense it was actually torture, phew.

How does the half-seasoned, half-fried bone-in chicken taste?

The half-seasoned, half-fried bone-in chicken at Hidongi Chicken Seokgwan Branch is ₩15,000 for a whole chicken, and the fried half was crispy outside with moist meat inside. Opened it up the second I got home!!! Gorgeous fried chicken visuals. My husband said you can tell if a chicken place is good by their bone-in fried chicken, so that's what we ordered haha. Wow, one bite in and it's genuinely crispy, super crunchy. This is what fried chicken should be!!!🍗🍗🍗 Crispy outside, moist meat inside — exactly my type 😆

Next up, the seasoned chicken! Honestly I'm not a big fan of seasoned chicken because it's usually too intense, but Hidongi Chicken's sauce is sweet and tangy, not overpowering, so I could keep eating without getting sick of it.

Add pickled radish and it's a complete spread!

You know how seasoned chicken sometimes ends up soggy with grease and sauce...? I really hate that. But Hidongi Chicken's sauce coats it generously while staying crispy, never soggy!!! Ugh, I want more already... 🤤

And here's what surprised me — usually with the breast meat, only the crispy coating tastes good while the meat inside is super dry, right? But at Hidongi Chicken, the meat inside is incredibly moist!!! What's the owner's secret....? So I enjoyed the breast meat too 🤤

Is Hidongi Chicken worth it for a late-night snack in Seokgwan-dong?

Hidongi Chicken Seokgwan Branch being open until 6:30am is a huge plus for when you're craving chicken deep into the night! The half-and-half chicken was so good it made me curious about their other flavors. I'll bring back a different chicken review next time hahaha.
