Wang mandu dumplings at a Yeongdeungpo pojangmacha bar: Yeokjeon

Yesterday, three of us former coworkers had dinner together, and since we weren't ready to say goodbye, we headed to Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo for a second round.

Where is Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo?

Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo is on the 2nd floor of a building at 11 Yeongdeungpo-ro 50-gil, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. It's in the Yeongdeungpo restaurant alley, and the flashy sign made it easy to spot.

The neon signs blazing from the building entrance made it instantly obvious — "this is the place!" haha 😆

The entrance leading up to the 2nd floor was already packed with people and buzzing with energy the moment we walked in — I thought, good pick for a second round.

Walking into Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo, the first thing that caught my eye was the walls covered in photos of old singers and actors, along with vintage magazines and ad posters.

There was an old Kin Cider ad,

a Milkis ad too, and even old magazine covers like Eokkaedongmu — fun to look at one by one.

We kept saying "do you remember this?" and "wow, that's so old!" and laughing for a while. 😂 It wasn't the shiny, new-looking interiors that are trendy these days — this deliberately leaned into old-school nostalgia, which made it even more fun.

The inside of Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo was bigger than I expected.

There were long tables and seating for several people, so it looked like a good option for anyone looking for a group bar near Yeongdeungpo Station or a get-together with coworkers.

There were plenty of other customers when we went, and the sound of laughter and chatter from every corner gave it that lively pojangmacha energy. It wasn't the kind of place for a quiet whisper between two people — more the kind of spot where friends can talk loudly and have a drink together. So it seemed like it would suit a work dinner or a group gathering near Yeongdeungpo Station well.

Yeokjeon Pojangmacha menu: how much is soju and draft beer?

Looking at the menu at Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo, there was really a lot to choose from.

What really caught my eye was soju at ₩3,900 and draft beer at ₩2,900!

Given how much drinks cost these days, this price was such a relief haha. That night we ordered boneless dakdoritang with jjolmyeon noodles and wang mandu. For drinks, we had Chamisul, Chum Churum, and Cass together.

The boneless dakdoritang came out in a big pot, and it looked hearty just from the sight of it. Packed with enoki mushrooms, assorted vegetables, rice cakes, and chicken, and once we added the jjolmyeon noodles, the portion was seriously generous.

As it bubbled away and the broth got richer, even the smell was already delicious. A spoonful of that spicy broth with a shot of soju — that's exactly the taste! 😆 We'd already eaten at the first round, but the three of us still ate so well. We kept saying "didn't we say we were full?" and laughing, but our chopsticks never stopped moving lol.

Being boneless made it easy to eat, and the jjolmyeon noodles soaked up the broth so well that they tasted even better together.

Just having the dakdoritang felt like something was missing, so we ordered wang mandu (giant dumplings) too.

Dipping the crispy, warm dumplings in soy sauce made them a great bite between spoonfuls of the spicy stew.

That night, honestly, the food was great, but the time spent catching up with people I hadn't seen in a while was even better.

From reminiscing about our old days working together, to how everyone's doing now, how work is going these days, what we want to do going forward... talking about all that, time really flew by. The three of us took photos, laughed, and chatted our way through a fun second round. 💕

If you're planning to drink near Yeongdeungpo Station, it's much more convenient to come by public transit rather than driving. Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo is on the 2nd floor, so if it's your first visit, just look for the Yeokjeon Pojangmacha sign at the entrance and head upstairs.

If you're looking for a bar near Yeongdeungpo Station for a relaxed drink with people you haven't seen in a while, and you prefer a lively, fun atmosphere over somewhere quiet, this place should suit you well. There was a lot to take in with the retro interior decorated in old ads and magazines, and the space is spacious enough to work as a group bar near Yeongdeungpo Station too. Most of all, we thoroughly enjoyed our second round with spicy dakdoritang, dumplings, soju, and beer. 😊
