Hongdae anniversary date makeup with double-eyelid tape: Comma Hair
In short
Comma Hair & Makeup is a hair and makeup salon on the second floor of a building on Donggyo-ro 25-gil, near Hongik University Station in Mapo, Seoul. Before an anniversary date, designer Suyeon went through reference photos, tidied the eyebrows, evened out both double eyelids with tape and set the fringe, all in one of the salon's private rooms, so arriving bare-faced felt comfortable. Comma Hair & Makeup also sent the lipstick used along and explained how to touch it up, which makes it a solid pick for a day full of photos.

For an anniversary when I wanted to look just a little prettier than usual,
Where is Comma Hair & Makeup near Hongik University Station?

How I found Comma Hair & Makeup
- You can get makeup done privately in an individual room
- Show them your reference photo and they'll suggest a direction that suits your face
- They pay close attention from eyebrow shaping to balancing both eyes
- They even hand over the lipstick used and explain how to touch it up
- The fitting room is a great photo spot — a shot before leaving is a must, haha
This was the day of my anniversary date with my boyfriend! I don't usually wear much makeup, but just for this day I wanted to look a little prettier, so I booked hair and makeup, haha.

While looking through reviews, I picked this place because the feedback was good — Comma Hair & Makeup.

It wasn't far from Hongik University Station, so it was easy to find, and it was located on the 2nd floor of the building.

Since I planned to take a lot of photos on the anniversary, I'd been debating where to get Hongdae hair and makeup, and the clean atmosphere from the moment I walked in already got me excited.
Check-in 10 minutes early: lockers and private rooms at Comma Hair & Makeup
Entry to Comma Hair & Makeup was possible from 10 minutes before the reservation time. Once inside, you change into indoor slippers, give your reservation name, and wait a bit.

There were also lockers for storing belongings, so it was convenient not having to hold a bag or coat while getting makeup done.

While waiting, I looked around the space and found small oatmeal snacks prepared too, haha.

And what I liked was the makeup space! There were about 4 individually separated rooms, so it wasn't done in an open space with other people around.

Since the process starts from a bare face, it can feel a bit embarrassing, but having a private space made it much more comfortable.

For anyone looking for a Hapjeong hair and makeup place or a Hongdae-area hair and makeup salon who cares about this kind of layout, this seems like a solid choice too.
The fitting room at Comma Hair & Makeup is a surprise photo spot
Comma Hair & Makeup also has a restroom inside the shop, so I didn't need to step outside, which was convenient. And there was a separate fitting room too... the lighting there was really flattering in photos, haha.

After finishing the makeup, right before leaving, I looked in the mirror and it felt like a waste to just walk past, so I took a shot of myself too, haha.

There was also a notification sign-up coupon, offering ₩5,000 off after leaving a review, so it's worth checking when you visit.

Booking designer Suyeon at Comma Hair & Makeup
I was styled by designer Suyeon at Comma Hair & Makeup. Walking into the room, there was an impressive spread of products laid out — from skincare to base to color makeup.

For someone like me who doesn't usually wear much makeup, I was like, wow... they use all this? It was fun just looking around, haha.

She first asked what the schedule for the day was, and whether I had a particular makeup style in mind.

I showed her the reference photo I'd prepared, and she understood the look I wanted right away — rather than copying it exactly, she also suggested which direction would suit my face better.
Eyebrow shaping and double-eyelid tape balancing, drink in hand
At Comma Hair & Makeup, they also offered drinks — a choice of americano, iced tea, or bloat-relief tea. I was torn between bloat-relief tea and iced tea, but went with iced tea!

What I noticed the most while getting my makeup done was how thorough she was, yet her hands moved really fast.
At the start, she shaped my eyebrows quickly and precisely — that's usually the part I struggle with most myself, so I especially loved the finished shape, haha.

She also immediately noticed that one eye was slightly more hooded, making the double eyelid look different on each side, and evened it out naturally with eyelid tape. For the hair, she first asked about my fringe volume and usual style, then fixed it in place as securely as possible so it turned out exactly the look I wanted.

With makeup and hair done together, the overall look was clearly more polished, and I thought this would be great for days with lots of photos, like an anniversary or a Hongdae hair and makeup shoot.
Comma Hair & Makeup sent the lipstick they used along with me
At the very end, she also gave me the lipstick she'd used, separately. She explained how to touch it up once the color faded a bit over time.
You know that feeling after getting makeup done — it looks pretty, but then you worry, once this fades, how do I fix it myself...? She took care of even that part, which I appreciated.
Designer Suyeon at Comma Hair & Makeup walked me through everything carefully, from the initial consultation to the final touch-up method, so I could relax through the whole process.
Two rounds at the photo booth after the anniversary date makeup
Looking at the finished result, I liked it way more than I expected. I thought, I have to capture this, so I went straight to a photo booth, haha.

After the first round, I thought, ah, it's a shame to only take one set? So I ended up doing it twice, haha.

And that day, the moment my boyfriend saw me, he kept saying, you look really pretty today, and kept complimenting me, which made me extra proud, haha. I really felt like booking Comma Hair & Makeup before our anniversary date was the right call.
Today's discovery at Comma Hair & Makeup
Comma Hair & Makeup, visited because I wanted to look a little prettier than usual for an anniversary. When I showed my reference photo, she picked up on the vibe I wanted right away, while also steering it toward a direction that suited my face better, which was satisfying.

I especially liked how carefully she handled the parts I usually struggle with — eyebrow shape, the difference between my two eyes, and fringe worries. Her hands were fast too, so there was no frustrating long wait, and both hair and makeup came out exactly the way I wanted, haha.
Lots of compliments from my boyfriend plus good staying power — total hair and makeup success, haha. Next time I need Hongdae hair and makeup for something special, like a photo shoot or an anniversary, this is a place I'd want to visit again.
