Pork belly yaki udon in a Yeongdeungpo izakaya room: Nani Byeolgwan

Hellooo ,, brewing up a review of Nani Byeolgwan, the izakaya near Yeongdeungpo Station I visited yesterday

Where is Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch, and what should you know before going?

Location first. Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch is a 10-minute walk from Yeongdeungpo Station (Line 1), 11 minutes from Yeongdeungpo Market Station (Line 5), and only 3 minutes from Times Square — perfect for a drink after you've been shopping at Times Square~

The location was so good that when my friends and I met up — one coming from Gwanghwamun, one from Gangseo-gu, and me from Yeouido — it turned out to be right in the middle (?). Location score: great~

No parking at the restaurant, but there's a public parking lot right behind it! Just note there's no parking fee support.

Take a look at my cute friends. It was so nice being able to talk and drink cozily (?) by ourselves in the room. Highly recommend the room!

Ordering by QR code: skewers, fried dishes and hot pots

Menu time. There wasn't a physical menu — you scan this QR code and the menu pops up. Ta-da, so modern

The menu was well stocked, from skewers and fried items to seafood, noodles, sides, and nabe!!

And as befits Nani Byeolgwan's reputation as a well-known Yeongdeungpo izakaya, there was a wide variety of drinks too

What three of us ordered at Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch

That Asahi draft was really tasty, I recommend it. We ordered pork belly yaki udon, beef tataki, cucumber muchim, and beef brisket nabe, plus 3 glasses of Asahi draft — 4 items total! (Yes, there were only 3 of us ^.^)

Detail shots incoming. First up, the Asahi draft! I took the photo after already drinking half of it ,, (rookie blogger regrets ,,) I thought 330ml would be a small amount, but it was just right for a refreshing gulp, yum

Cucumber muchim (seasoned cucumber salad)

The first thing to arrive was the cucumber muchim (seasoned cucumber salad)! It tasted like it was pickled in vinegar? — tangy and sweet, perfect for waking up your appetite!

And there's nothing better than cucumber muchim for picking at while eating the other dishes.

Pork belly yaki udon

Second up was the pork belly yaki udon. The udon noodles were nice and plump, and there was a ton of thinly sliced pork belly in there too

Along with the meat and noodles, there were also lots of vegetables — bok choy, cabbage, carrot, green onion, etc. — so it was easy to eat without feeling heavy haha

Beef tataki: how tender was it?

Last up was the beef tataki!

Each piece of meat had a bit of wasabi on top, and dipping it in the sauce was pure bliss.. Tataki lives and dies by its tender texture (?), and this was just soft and tender enough.

And the beef brisket nabe (hot pot) we ordered as an extra.

One of my friends can't eat seafood well, so we ordered the brisket version! Can you see how loaded it is with bean sprouts? A nabe needs plenty of bean sprouts to be good for the hangover(?) too. A sip of drink,, a spoonful of nabe broth,, a bite of bean sprouts,, and the soju just kept going down smoothly ,,

Is Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch good for a private drink in Yeongdeungpo?

That's my review of Nani Byeolgwan, which I fully recommend when meeting up with friends after a while for a private drink, or just for a casual drink in Yeongdeungpo. 📍 Recommend ordering the pork belly yaki udon and beef brisket nabe ,,
