Apgujeong Rodeo pork belly restaurant, 300g outdoors: Chobeoljip

In short

Chobeoljip Apgujeong Rodeo Branch is a pre-grilled samgyeopsal (pork belly) restaurant a 2-minute walk from Apgujeong Rodeo Station in Gangnam, Seoul, set in a hanok-style building with tiled roof next to Galleria department store. On the owner's recommendation the writer took an outdoor table and grilled 300g of pre-grilled pork belly with vegetables and kimchi, and the smoky flavor from the AI robot's first grilling was still strong. With the Han River only a 10-minute walk away, Chobeoljip is an easy pick for dinner followed by a riverside stroll.

How far is Chobeoljip from Apgujeong Rodeo Station?

Chobeoljip Apgujeong Rodeo Branch is a 2-minute walk from Apgujeong Rodeo Station. The exterior is decorated in traditional hanok tile-roof style, so it's fairly easy to spot from a distance.

From outside, there's a sign saying an AI robot does the pre-grilling — and it's true, a robot really does it! And since there seem to be a lot of foreign tourists in the area, there's a board introducing the restaurant in multiple languages.

By the way, did you know it's a 10-minute walk to the Han River from here?! If you're craving pork belly after a Han River date, this place is perfect.

Outdoor tables or indoor seats at Chobeoljip: which is better?

The interior of Chobeoljip Apgujeong Rodeo Branch is split into outdoor and indoor sections. The outdoor area has tables set up for groups, while the indoor area is mostly 4-person seating. But the owner recommended the outdoor tables, saying the atmosphere is better, so that's where we ate!

There's a restroom inside the restaurant. It was really clean and well-maintained. There's also a big mirror by the entrance to the restroom, so you can check your look!

What's on the self-bar, and where to find aprons

There is a self-service bar, but if you just ask the owner, they'll bring everything to you! There are also aprons available if you'd rather be careful.

What 300g of pre-grilled pork belly tastes like

Before the food arrived, they set the table like this. Of everything, the pickles left an impression — they have a strong herbal medicine flavor but not in an off-putting way, so they were good to nibble on before the meat.

I ordered the pre-grilled pork belly 300g! The photo on the left shows it after being pre-grilled. Maybe because an AI robot did it, but the smoky flavor was really strong! I piled vegetables all around the edge and put kimchi in the center to grill. I'm not great at grilling meat myself, but since it came pre-grilled, it was reeeally delicious. In the middle photo, you can see it's nicely golden-browned, right?! Seriously delicious haha. By the way, the owner said it tastes great with the pickles, so I tried it that way, and they really went well together.

Is Chobeoljip worth it, and who to bring?

This restaurant has a great atmosphere and the quality was amazing! It seemed especially perfect for mid-September weather — not cold, not hot. You've got to go during this season! Haha.

And if you're looking for a group dinner spot, this seems like it would be the best choice. If you're hunting for a company dinner venue, I recommend this place! You can book through Naver, so reserving ahead should be no problem!

Besides company dinners, it's also great for families and couples. A family with a baby was at the table next to us and they seemed to enjoy their meal a lot haha. Eating here and then walking along the Han River is so nice! Haha. The photo below is the AI robot that does the pre-grilling — it was too cute not to include.
