Comparing two jjajangmyeon at a Haeundae Chinese restaurant: Bueokgan
In short
Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch is a Chinese restaurant on Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae, Busan. Four dishes came to 58,000 won in total — mapo tofu rice bowl 12,000 won, poached-egg pork belly ganjjajang 10,000 won, kkanpung shrimp 28,000 won and regular jjajangmyeon 8,000 won — so the plain jjajangmyeon and the poached-egg pork belly ganjjajang could be tasted side by side. Because the several shared dishes never overlapped in flavour, Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch works well for a family meal out or a date.

I wanted Chinese food in Haeundae and looked around, and ended up at Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch (부엌간 차이니즈 해운대점)!
It felt less like a typical neighborhood Chinese joint and more like a proper Chinese restaurant, nice enough to eat at comfortably haha.
It's located near Dalmaji-gil, so it also seemed like a good stop for a family meal or a date.

What four dishes made up the 58,000 won order?
The reason I picked Bueokgan Chinese as my Haeundae Chinese restaurant pick this time was that the menu ranges from rice and noodle dishes to full cooked dishes.
I ordered four things total: mapo tofu rice bowl ₩12,000, poached-egg pork belly ganjjajang (수란 삼겹 간짜장) ₩10,000, kkanpung shrimp ₩28,000, and regular jjajangmyeon ₩8,000, coming to ₩58,000 total!
Mapo tofu rice bowl, 12,000 won

Felt like we needed at least one rice dish, so I added the mapo tofu rice bowl haha.

It's tofu and sauce mixed into rice, which made it a good fit to eat alongside the noodle dishes.

Rather than ordering multiple jjajangmyeon, mixing in one rice dish made the spread a lot more varied!

The egg soup that came with it was excellent too.
Poached-egg pork belly ganjjajang, 10,000 won

Personally, this was the dish I was most curious about while looking at the menu.

Unlike regular ganjjajang, this one comes topped with pork belly and a poached egg!
Pop the poached egg and mix it into the jjajang sauce and noodles, and it eats a bit more smoothly.

Since regular jjajangmyeon is ₩8,000, the difference is only ₩2,000, so if you want to try something a little different, this is a solid choice.
Kkanpung shrimp, 28,000 won

For a cooked dish, I ordered the kkanpung shrimp! Noodles or rice alone felt a bit lacking, so I added this one — it was great for sharing if you're visiting with several people.

The shrimp coated in kkanpung sauce pairs well with jjajangmyeon or ganjjajang,
and having one main dish on the table definitely made the spread feel more generous haha.
Regular jjajangmyeon, 8,000 won

I was curious about the basic menu too, so I added the regular jjajangmyeon. At ₩8,000, it's the most classic dish to try at Bueokgan.

Ordering the poached-egg pork belly ganjjajang alongside the regular jjajangmyeon made it fun to compare the two while eating!

How did the two jjajangmyeon compare when shared?
Overall, if you're looking for a Haeundae Chinese restaurant and want to try everything at once — regular jjajangmyeon, a slightly special ganjjajang, a rice bowl, and a cooked dish — this was a good place to visit.
It was especially nice ordering multiple dishes to share! Rather than just eating jjajangmyeon on its own, mixing in kkanpung shrimp here and there along with the mapo tofu rice bowl meant the flavors didn't overlap, so it never got repetitive haha. The poached-egg pork belly ganjjajang stood out just from the name alone, so if it's your first visit, it's worth ordering at least once.

Why Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch suits a family meal out
Overall the food came out looking clean and the restaurant's atmosphere was pretty relaxed, so it was an easy place to bring parents or have a family meal with kids!
They even had kids' tableware haha.

If you're near Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae looking for a Chinese restaurant with a cleaner atmosphere than the average neighborhood spot, Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch seems like a good option haha.

It keeps the comfortable, familiar menu of a Chinese restaurant while giving the space a cleaner feel, so it was good for a family meal or visiting with a group!

If you're near Dalmaji-gil looking for a good Haeundae Chinese restaurant, give Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch a try haha.
