I'd been craving upscale Japanese food that melts in your mouth, so I went to a Nampo-dong favorite for sushi, Moshi Moshi Sushi Lotte Department Store Gwangbok Branch!

Overall the space was spacious, clean and pleasant. There were also solo seats, which looked good for eating alone or for a family meal out.

This place has a restaurant hygiene grade of Very Excellent, so you can eat with confidence! It's also directly operated rather than a franchise, so the same standards and philosophy are maintained across every branch, meaning you can expect the same satisfaction anywhere.

Assorted sushi B (10 pieces): the salmon steals the plate

Assorted sushi B 10p comes with sushi (flounder, tuna, salmon, shrimp, beef, eel, yukhoe — Korean-style raw beef tartare), vegetable salad, tofu salad, and tempura (shrimp, eggplant, sweet potato).

With so many kinds, it was fun to eat! Every single slice of raw fish on top of the sushi was hefty, so it really felt like a proper meal.

I usually don't like salmon much, but after eating the salmon sushi at Moshi Moshi, I fell for it. 😍 Eaten with the white sauce on top, it was really, really soft! The natural savory flavor of the salmon that melts in your mouth was fully alive. The eel was clean too, with no fishy smell! I'm not usually a fan of yukhoe, but it was savory and delicious haha.

Sushi set (the better one): the full spread, udon included

The sushi set (the better version) comes with sushi (flounder, salmon, tuna, flounder, shrimp, eel, beef), tofu salad, vegetable salad, udon, and tempura (shrimp, eggplant, sweet potato). Compared to the assorted sushi, the sushi set has fewer pieces of sushi but comes with udon instead.

The udon came out piping hot, and eating it together with the sushi was really satisfying — it made the meal feel filling and hearty haha 🍲 It was a spread substantial enough to be counted among the best Japanese restaurants in Nampo-dong!

White-fish sushi (10 pieces): all flounder, start to finish

The white-fish sushi 10p comes with sushi (flounder), tofu salad, vegetable salad, and tempura (shrimp, eggplant, sweet potato). Lastly, I tried the clean, light white-fish sushi too. 🍣

A lot of sushi places don't have a menu made entirely of white fish, so I liked that this place had a separate white-fish option! Thick, glossy slices of flounder were piled generously on top of the rice. One bite filled my mouth with chewiness. The subtle sweetness and savory flavor that came out the more I chewed the flounder was genuinely amazing. 👍

The salads and tempura that come with every set

The vegetable salad and tofu salad were also very satisfying. In particular, the dressing on the tofu salad had a bit of a peanut sauce flavor, and it went really well with the tofu's soft taste.

The tempura was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside — a satisfaction level of ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ tempura!

Since it's directly operated, the quality of the raw fish was excellent, and every single dish satisfied me completely — from the assorted sushi, to the hearty udon-and-tempura sushi set, to the white-fish sushi made entirely of flounder. With both solo seats and comfortable table seats, it's perfect for a family meal after shopping or for a date. 😋
