Visited Nopo Dwaeji Aewol during a trip to west Jeju. Since we were staying near Aewol/Hyeopjae, a place that grills the meat for you was perfect for dinner.

Where is Nopo Dwaeji Aewol, and is there parking?
Nopo Dwaeji Aewol sits near Aewol Beach. There's a parking lot behind the building, and it's really wide, so parking is easy. For a rental car trip, a big parking lot is the best~

Located in Aewol-eup, Nopo Dwaeji Aewol is a Jeju black pork specialty restaurant known for its geun-gogi (thick-cut pork).

An early 5pm dinner with a baby: inside Nopo Dwaeji Aewol
The restaurant was spacious and clean. The round tables have chairs with backrests, and the long rectangular tables have sofa-style seating, so you can sit comfortably depending on your group size. Dinner with a baby is always early haha ㅠㅠ We went around 5pm and it was quiet, so we could focus on eating in peace.

Menu prices and the 10% Naver reservation coupon
Looking for a good Jeju black pork restaurant near our lodging, we found Nopo Dwaeji Aewol, where geun-gogi seemed to be the main dish, so we ordered that! There's also a lunch special that's great value. Meal items like doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), kimchi jjigae, and kelp rice are well done too. And writing a Naver review gets you a free jjigae or naengmyeon (cold noodles) — such a bonus 👏

And if you reserve through Naver, there's a 10% coupon. I booked ahead and used it too.

Side dishes and the self-serve vegetable bar
The side dishes were clean and paired well with the meat — dongchimi (radish water kimchi), dressed lettuce salad, and three sauces: wasabi, ssamjang, and salt.

You can freely grab veggies and side dishes from the self-serve bar. Small plates were set up there too, which was convenient.

600g of geun-gogi for 72,000 won, grilled by the staff
Nopo Dwaeji Aewol, an Aewol black pork favorite, is known for its geun-gogi — 600g for ₩72,000. We went for dinner, but at lunch there's a lunch special: 400g of meat for ₩55,000, including a free jjigae and rice, so lunch is great value too. Staff grilled the meat for us with a full grilling service. The color of the meat ✨ so good.

Nopo Dwaeji's black pork is aged meat — they say they select the best cuts and age the pork neck and belly. No wonder it was so tasty.

The perfectly grilled pieces were lined up neatly side by side. They say the pork neck should be eaten right away, sealed with its juices, before it gets grilled too long and dry. Take the first bite dipped in salt right off the grill and a day's worth of tiredness melts away.

Wasabi and house-made salt: the best way to eat it
These days I can't eat meat without wasabi. It brings out the natural flavor of the meat and adds a layer of umami, so it's not greasy and the meat stays moist and even more delicious. The salt is house-made — not too salty, with a crunchy texture kind of like nurungji (scorched rice), a combo that doesn't get old even after eating a lot of meat.

Who should eat at Nopo Dwaeji Aewol?
If you're traveling around Jeju, swimming at Gwakji Beach, or staying nearby and craving good black pork for lunch or dinner, Nopo Dwaeji Aewol is the spot. It's a short walk from the beach and has a big parking lot, so it's great for group visits too 👍
