Hanam Misa braised pollock with a monkfish stew add-on: Appa Jjim
In short
Appa Jjim Hanam Main Branch is a kodari-jjim (braised dried pollock) restaurant near Misa and Pungsan Station in Hanam, Gyeonggi. A couple with big appetites booked a weekend table before a Costco run and ordered the smallest siraegi kodari-jjim plus a small monkfish stew and pot rice, finding the radish and dried radish greens cooked down soft and the monkfish broth full of flavour. With easy parking, baby chairs and a snack and ice cream corner by the exit, Appa Jjim works well for family meals too.

My husband and I went grocery shopping at Costco this weekend! It'd been a while so we figured we'd look around while we were at it haha. We're the type who always thinks, once we're out, let's eat something good. So lately what we've been craving is... stew... braised dishes... yeah, that very Korean palate of ours.
So that's how we ended up at Appa Jjim in Hanam. It was genuinely delicious and the portions were so generous, we loved it :) hahahaha, super satisfied. It has a ton of Naver reviews too, so I was really curious about it. Here's my review after a very tasty meal :)

Appa Jjim Hanam Main Branch

Parking and dining with kids at Appa Jjim Hanam Main Branch
This kodari (dried pollock) spot in Hanam we visited had really generous parking, plus baby chairs ready to go, so there were more family customers than I expected haha. Very good, very good.

The snack and ice cream corner after the meal
Toward the back there's a spot set up where you can buy snacks after your meal, and everything looked so tempting it got me excited lol. It made me want to eat fast :) I thought, let's hurry up and dig in! hahaha
And at the end there's ice cream ready too, which was great — kids love it too!! hahahaha

What Appa Jjim is like on a weekend reservation
This kodari place in Hanam had a really clean interior, which put me in a good mood right when we walked in, and since it was the weekend we'd made a reservation — service was fast too, so I got to sit down feeling very satisfied hahaha.

Ordering braised pollock plus a small monkfish stew
Since we're a couple of big eaters, we first ordered the kodari-jjim we'd been planning on... and then, wanting monkfish stew too, we added a small monkfish stew on top haha. We're the type who, once we eat, has to eat well and eat plenty.
But honestly it was such a satisfying meal. I really do think you have to eat kodari-jjim at a place that specializes in it. Felt like I'd found the real deal kodari spot in Hanam haha.

The side dishes that come first
The basic side dishes were also set out so neatly and cleanly that this Hanam kodari spot would be a great place to bring your parents too :)

Tasting the monkfish stew (agu-tang) first
The monkfish stew was ready first, and it was so good I actually fell for it. When a place's soup is delicious, you know they really know how to cook hahaha.

Is the smallest siraegi kodari-jjim enough?
And then the kodari-jjim we'd really been craving showed up. It looked so delicious, and even though it was the smallest size, it was still really generous — loved that haha.

I thought, this might really be a great-value kodari spot in Hanam, and my expectations shot way up.

We were so happy with it that I took a top-down shot lol.
This seaweed soup, which went so well with the slightly spicy kodari-jjim and the monkfish stew... it was so good :)

We ordered the siraegi kodari-jjim and the radish was really cooked down soft, and the dried radish greens (siraegi) were tender too, so we got to really enjoy it — this is a genuinely great kodari spot in Hanam. Total, total respect hahaha.

Pot rice, seaweed and finishing the meal
We also ordered rice as pot rice so we could enjoy it fully. It was fluffy and really delicious — this combo gets my approval haha.

The monkfish stew broth was also really, really good. haha, a genuinely approved kodari spot in Hanam — approved, and approved again.

Wrapping it in seaweed to eat was delicious too, and we got to enjoy it in so many different ways — this is a kodari spot in Hanam I really recommend, so I hope you get to try it :)
