Sinchon burger date with Budweiser draft beer: Bored & Hungry Mapo

Date near Sinchon after a while! The weather's been so nice lately and I wanted to wander around eating good food, so this time we went for burgers in Sinchon 🍔

I love burgers to begin with, and I was really craving a plump shrimp burger, so while looking around I found this place! It's one of Korea's most talked-about trendy burger brands, and apparently even Snoop Dogg fell for their burgers, so I was curious just how good it could be lol

The location is great and the vibe is great too, so it was perfect for a date!

Where is Bored & Hungry Mapo, and what is the restaurant like?

The exterior alone is so hip — I've walked past this stretch near the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail so many times, why didn't I know about this place?? Why did it take me this long????

The moment I walked in, the space felt way hipper than I expected! Especially since the store is built like one big open window — great if you come on a nice-weather day!!!

The interior is so hip ✨ And another thing that stood out here was the ordering system! You scan the QR code at the table and order the menu directly. I've seen QR ordering places before, but here even the drinks are self-serve, which felt a little novel the first time lol

If you're looking for somewhere a little hip instead of the usual predictable restaurant for a date in Sinchon, a trendy burger place like this seems like a good call

If you're the type who prefers a casual, hip place over somewhere too quiet and moody on a date, this will probably suit your taste haha. Instead of ordering drinks through staff, you go grab whatever drink you want yourself! Order a drink and they'll give you a nice cold ice cup!

And you can't have burgers without draft beer 🍺 We also ordered a Budweiser draft — burger plus draft beer is basically an unwritten rule, right… A cold glass of draft alongside really changes how the burger tastes lol. Burger places that serve draft beer are rare and precious.

Corn ribs: a whole roasted corn side

And the side we ordered, corn ribs! Corn ribs are corn roasted whole, cut into rib-like pieces, and it actually paired surprisingly well with the burgers. If you want a side that's a bit different from the usual fries, corn ribs are worth ordering. Dip it in the sauce and it's the perfect beer snack. Recommended if you like corn — that's definitely me ••

Butter garlic fries

And of course, the butter garlic fries! Crispy fries with that butter garlic flavor added — a great side to eat alongside a burger, as always. One bite of burger, one bite of fries, one sip of draft beer — isn't that combo basically unbeatable lol. Especially recommended if you're a butter garlic fan, order the fries too!

Shrimp Burger

Shrimp Burger 🍤 It has that distinct texture from the shrimp patty and feels relatively lighter than a beef burger, so if there are two of you, I'd recommend ordering one and splitting it!

Ozzy Champion Burger

This is the Ozzy Champion Burger! The name alone sounds like the signature menu item, so I ordered one of these first — and true to a burger built around a beef patty, the patty really made its presence known. It's got a thick meat patty, so with one bite you really taste the meat, and just this one burger felt pretty filling on its own!
