Dog-friendly brunch café with park-view window seats: HEOD Gongdeok

In short

HEOD Gongdeok is a brunch café in Mapo, Seoul, where the window seats look straight out onto the Gyeongui Line Forest Park walking trail, and it is the Gongdeok branch of the brand that first made its name with French toast in Gangneung. From a window seat came butter French toast (12,800 won) and two iced Americanos, the toast crisp outside, fluffy inside and full of butter aroma. HEOD Gongdeok opens year-round and welcomes dogs and babies, making it an easy stop before or after a walk on the forest trail.

What kind of brunch café is HEOD Gongdeok?

HEOD Gongdeok is a brunch café in Gongdeok (Mapo), right next to the Gyeongui Line Forest Park walking trail. The brand originally became famous for French toast in Gangneung, and after Yeonnam-dong and Hapjeong, it recently opened here in Gongdeok too. I've been to the Hapjeong branch before, but the Gongdeok branch had a much better view and more spacious seating, so I was way more satisfied.

The exterior and entrance in Gongdeok

Exterior of HEOD Gongdeok

Perfect spot to duck into while out for a walk. Passersby seemed curious and glanced in to see what they were serving.

Entrance sign saying it's fine to just order coffee

The sign saying you're welcome to just have coffee really showed the owner's thoughtfulness, haha.

Entrance display with menu photos and prices

Before going in, they show photos of what's on the menu along with prices, which is such a relief. You can tell they thought a lot about what customers actually need.

Sign about birthday perks and dog-friendly policy

They give you a cupcake or lettering on your birthday, and it's 50% off with military ID verification. Dogs and babies welcome too!!! Since Gyeongui Line Forest Park gets a lot of dog walkers and families, that seems like a key point.

Gyeongui Line Forest Park view from the window seats

I got a window seat, and the view of the Gyeongui Line Forest Park walking trail right outside the window was genuinely great.

The interior is decorated in green tones, giving off a bright, fresh overall feel, and the vibe is relaxed enough that you don't feel weird just having coffee, so it's nice for a casual drop-in too.

Couldn't photograph everything since there were people around, but there were plenty of seating options — window view, bar seats, group tables and more. The staff were also really kind, so I felt good the whole time being served.

The French toast was crisp outside and fluffy inside, and the moment I took a bite, the butter aroma hit strong with a sweet finish — genuinely delicious. There's clearly a reason it became famous for French toast starting from the Gangneung flagship. The portion was just right too, a perfect amount to pair with an Americano.
