In short

Why Starve Diet Gongdeok Main Branch is a protein box, salad and poke shop in the basement of the Lotte Castle commercial building, one minute from Exit 2 of Gongdeok Station in Mapo, Seoul. A three-year dieter tried the chicken oat protein box (₩9,900) and tomato soup (₩3,500) and found the chicken breast not dry at all, tasty even without dressing, plus plenty of single seats for solo diners. Why Starve Diet Gongdeok Main Branch menu board

Hello! Today I'm bringing you a review of Why Starve Diet Gongdeok Main Branch, a diet food specialist (protein boxes, salads, poke) located near Gongdeok Station!

For reference, I'm a three-year dieter (or should I say, a diet-talker haha). These days so many tasty and healthy restaurants have popped up that it's really a great world for dieting 🥹 But no matter how good a place is, you get sick of ordering from the same spot over and over! This is a place I'd recommend when you want a slightly different kind of diet food.

How far is it from Gongdeok Station Exit 2?

Exterior

Store exterior in the basement of the Lotte Castle commercial building near Gongdeok Station

Why Starve Diet Gongdeok Main Branch is a 1-minute walk from Gongdeok Station Exit 2. Since it's inside the Lotte Castle commercial building connected to the station, you basically don't spend any time outside haha. You can get there comfortably whether it's a heat wave, snowing, or raining.

What's the inside like, and is it good for solo dining?

Interior

Open kitchen visible from the store entrance

The first thing you see when you walk in is the fully open kitchen (👍)

There are these aesthetic posters scattered around haha

Store interior seating with single seats

The store isn't super spacious, but there are a lot of single seats set up like this, so I'd especially recommend it to solo diners.

Nice touch that they display the country of origin too!

Menu recommendation

Full spread of the chicken oat protein box

Chicken oat protein box (9.9) 487kcal, 52g protein Chicken breast 150g, oats, chickpeas, lettuce, green beans, broccoli, paprika, olives, onion flakes

The chicken oat protein box has 150g of chicken breast plus chickpeas on top, giving it a whopping 52g of protein! On top of that, the grain portion is oats, a slow-absorbing carb, making it ideal for anyone on a diet.

➡️ Besides oats, you can also choose salad only/pasta/tofu noodle as your base. Rotating through these means there's no chance of getting bored.

Protein box packed with plenty of green vegetables

For those of us living alone, it's hard to get enough vegetables 🥹 This is a really healthy menu packed with green veggies.

Close-up of chicken breast and oats in the protein box

For reference, even though it's chicken breast, it wasn't dry at aaaaall. I genuinely wanted to know the secret... It was already seasoned, so it was really tasty even without adding any dressing.

But it's even better with dressing on top, of course. They said the dressing that pairs best with the chicken oat protein box is wasabi mayo, but since I was already eating healthy, I decided to go with the oriental dressing instead...

Tomato soup ordered as a side, ₩3,500

Tomato soup (3.5) A spicy-sour-sweet Western-style tomato soup flavored with sautéed onions

It's a side soup, and the price is really affordable! I love tomato soup so much that I ordered this too. For reference, it's 120kcal. I'm someone who likes spicy food but has a low tolerance, and I was surprised at how spicy it was at first, but after a few bites it became quite manageable. The flavor was, as expected, deliciously tangy and sweet haha.

Overall verdict

Highly recommend when you want diet food near Gongdeok Station! The food comes out really fast, within 3-5 minutes! Another plus is the wide range of options — oat/pasta/tofu noodle/all-salad — and with a mala protein box also on the menu, the lineup has gotten so varied it's hard to tell it apart from regular indulgent food. Strongly recommend for anyone who wants to diet while eating well.
