I was craving meat sooo badly over the weekend. Then I found Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch near Yeongtong District Office. It was only ₩88,000 for 1 kg of beef, so I booked it right away and went...!

An open-wall exterior and interior with a patio-like feel

Exterior

There are no separate outdoor tables, but the wall is open like this, so it feels cool, the sound echoes less, and you get that patio-dining kind of vibe, haha.

It may be only ₩88,000 for 1 kg, but they say they absolutely do not use low-grade meat. They use prime-grade beef, no less...

Inside and the seating

Most of the tables seat four or more like this. The interior was quite spacious. Since they said private hire can accommodate up to 40 people, I guess there were around 10 tables in all. Anyway, we sat closest to the outside, and it was so, so nice in this cool weather.

This is nothing major, but something I found fascinating, lol: the tissues were mounted overhead like this! Usually they are under the table, so whoever is closest has to pass them around to everyone. Why did I like this little detail so much... haha.

Side dishes and the self-service bar

The basic sides include braised perilla leaves, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), pickled onions, young-radish kimchi, and, though not pictured, shredded green onions. For eating with the beef, they provide ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), wasabi, and salt.

I really love the combination of beef and gireumjang (sesame oil dipping sauce). They also had sesame oil, so I was happy to make my own dipping sauce like this, haha.

Of course, you can refill the side dishes at the self-service bar!

The 1 kg prime beef assortment: which cuts do you get?

Prime beef assortment, 1 kg (₩88,000) / flower shrimp cut + salchisal + jebi churi

We ordered Sogogi Twist's signature beef assortment. It included the famously delicious flower shrimp cut, salchisal, and jebi churi, which was relatively unfamiliar to me.

For reference, we ordered the assortment this time, but you can freely choose from the three cuts, and the prices by weight are as follows:

• 200 g ₩25,000
• 500 g ₩54,000
• 1 kg ₩88,000

First, we grilled the salchisal and jebi churi.

All I can say is that the flavor was seriously insane... The salchisal was, needless to say, tender and juicy. It was my first time having jebi churi, and it was clean-tasting and chewy, with a beefy aroma that came through more and more as I chewed.

But the flower shrimp cut was even more delicious...! Shrimp cut is already my favorite cut, but is it really okay to enjoy it like this at this price? 🥹 It was so tender it felt like it melted in my mouth... 🫠

(It looks a little burnt already, but) if you set the beef to the side like this so it does not burn, you can keep eating it warm ✨️ At our house, some people cannot eat undercooked meat, so we tend to cook it well done like this. Even so, it was truly tender without a single tough bit!

And you cannot skip these mushrooms when grilling beef. The chewy mushrooms absorbed the beefy aroma—so delicious 🫠🤍

Rice is ₩1,500 per bowl, and they pile it up for you like this, haha.

Even beef doenjang-jjigae

Beef doenjang-jjigae (₩5,000). You cannot eat beef without finishing with a meal, haha, so we ordered doenjang-jjigae too.

Honestly, because it was inexpensive, I expected ordinary doenjang-jjigae, but it had a good amount of beef in it. We even happily finished the last pieces of meat in the stew! Plus, I think the little side-plate bowls are so cute...
