Gwangalli Korean BBQ with staff grilling: Jukrim Sutbul Dwaeji Gui

In short

Jukrim Sutbul Dwaeji Gui is a Korean barbecue restaurant in Suyeong, Busan, near Gwangalli Beach. I had the Jukrim Korean pork set with kimchi rolled noodles and doenjang jjigae, and especially loved the juicy pork belly and tender pork neck. Verdict: a wonderfully easy place for a full barbecue spread when grilling meat feels like a chore.

A Korean barbecue spot in Gwangalli I found after checking the wait

This is the exterior of Jukrim Sutbul Dwaeji Gui (죽림숯불돼지구이)! There is no separate dedicated parking lot, so you can use a nearby paid lot instead. Naver Map had directions to the closest parking lots, too.

I got to eat without waiting, but by the time I left, quite a queue had formed. You can check ahead on the Catchtable app, so it would be even better to take a look before you go, haha.

Even though it is a barbecue restaurant, the inside had such an upscale, restaurant-like atmosphere. They also have high chairs, so it would be a nice place to visit with little ones.

Set menus and how to order

The menu was placed right on the table like this. Take a look, press the bell to call someone over, and place your order.

They also have set menus that let you enjoy more for less, and the combinations looked good, so I ordered a set first :) There were two choices: the Jukrim Iberico Set and the Jukrim Korean Pork Set! If you order two sets at once, they give you one additional meal dish, too.

If you order à la carte, the first order has to be at least three servings. From special cuts to marinated meat, everything was prepared in great quality, haha.

There were lots of meal dishes and sides as well, and I ordered my absolute favorite: kimchi rolled noodles!

The banchan (Korean side dishes) came out like this, and I especially loved how varied they were. The bean sprouts were so tasty that I even got a refill, haha.

And if you join the Naver receipt-review event, you can choose one of grilling cheese, doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), or kimchi jjigae! Make sure to join and claim yours, haha.

They had detailed instructions on how to enjoy the meat deliciously, so I read through them carefully before eating, haha.

Enjoying the Korean pork set with staff grilling

The grill had a shape I had honestly never seen before, so I had to snap a photo, haha. It was round and plump, like baduk stones.

The meat was prepared like this and grilled right away. Maybe because it was Korean pork, the color looked so beautiful. The cuts themselves were so thick that they seemed like they would be hard to grill evenly, so having the staff grilling service was such a huge plus—it made the meal so easy, haha.

Kimchi rolled noodles and doenjang jjigae together

The kimchi rolled noodles were so cool and refreshing, and they went incredibly well with the meat. They had that flavor that clears away all the richness!! 🥹

The doenjang jjigae included with the set also came out bubbling away, making it perfect to enjoy alongside the meal.

Meat, kimchi noodles, and doenjang stew... a seriously hearty full spread was complete!

Maybe because I am not very good at grilling meat, but I loved that they grilled every piece for us.

There was garlic preserved in oil, and it became wonderfully soft as it cooked. The myeolchi jeot (fermented anchovy sauce) was just right, too—not overly salty even when I dipped generously!!

Once the meat was cooked, they moved it to the side like this so it was easier to eat. The pork belly was cut nice and thick, and I loved how full of juice it was.

Extra pork neck and grilled vegetables

Pork neck can sometimes feel a little dry, but there was absolutely none of that here. That is why I ended up ordering pork neck again as an extra later on, haha.

They grilled vegetables such as green onions and mushrooms, too, and they were so delicious ㅠ.ㅠ Take a big bite with the meat and the flavor gets even better!!

Honestly, I was not thinking about drinks at first... but with the look of the meat and the taste, I just could not resist ㅠ.ㅠ So my dad and I had a drink together, haha.

There were no ssam vegetables (wrap greens) on the table, so I asked and found out they will bring them if you request them!! If you are a wrap-greens lover, it would be best to mention it in advance when you visit.
