Cafe near Palbongsan in Hongcheon for shrimp cream pasta and burrata

In short

Cafe Iseo Hongcheon Branch is a brunch café on Hanchigol-gil in Seo-myeon, Hongcheon, Gangwon, just minutes from Mt. Palbongsan. After hiking Palbongsan, we stopped in for shrimp cream pasta, a burrata cheese salad, and an apple-ade made with house-brewed apple syrup, with plenty of parking and seating for two, four, or groups. Even a husband who doesn't usually like cream pasta raved about this place's signature dish.

Iced Americano and apple-ade served first

Apple-ade and iced Americano

While our brunch was being prepared, the iced Americano ☕️🧊 and apple-ade 🍎 came out first.

Apple-ade packed with apple pieces

(Made with house-brewed apple syrup) The apple-ade was loaded generously with apple pieces, and the subtle sweetness was really appealing. You can choose between beans with a fruity acidity or a nutty roast — I went with the nutty one!

How does the burrata cheese salad taste?

Next came the shrimp cream pasta and the burrata cheese salad.

Burrata cheese, arugula, a variety of vegetables, prosciutto, basil dressing, and two slices of toasted bread.

Shrimp cream pasta made with fettuccine noodles

Fettuccine cream pasta with four plump shrimp, a rich, nutty cream sauce with a slight kick of spice that keeps you coming back for more — the signature pasta that made Cafe Iseo famous ✨️

The basil dressing was drizzled on generously and evenly.

Cut into the cheese and the soft, moist inside is amazing!! No saltiness, just a gentle, nutty, mellow cheese flavor that pairs so well with the salty prosciutto and dressed vegetables.

Piled onto the crispy toasted bread, the combination is insane!!! Absolutely gorgeous 😋⭐️

Shrimp cream pasta — how spicy is it?

Plump shrimp in the rich cream sauce

Plump, well-cooked shrimp mixed into a rich, luscious cream sauce — I started drooling the moment I saw it! The shrimp were seriously so plump ㅠㅠ ㅋㅋㅋ My husband, who doesn't like heavy/greasy food, raved about how good the shrimp and sauce were. He doesn't usually enjoy cream pasta, but he was genuinely impressed and kept saying this pasta was really, really good ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Shrimp dipped in sauce alongside wide fettuccine noodles

(Even just dipping the plump shrimp straight into the sauce was delicious on its own.)

The wide noodles held the sauce really well, so it was a perfect match with the cream sauce. With a nutty richness and a hint of spice, it wasn't heavy at all, and I enjoyed every last bite 🧡 The whole brunch order was a total win 😆 The spiciness is just enough to cut through the richness of the cream sauce, so I'd say order it as-is — though you can ask for it mild if you prefer.

Final verdict

If you're looking for good brunch and a nice atmosphere in Hongcheon, I definitely recommend stopping by 🌿 It was a solid café — next time I'm traveling nearby, I'd love to come back for brunch again :)
