Watermelon slushie and egg tart at Baegya Coffee, Gangneung
In short
Baegya Coffee is a large four-floor bakery café right in front of Sacheonjin Beach near Gyeongpodae in Gangneung. On a day trip with my wife, we ordered an egg tart, a mini mocha butter pound cake, an iced Americano and a watermelon slushie, took in the ocean view from the 3rd floor, and explored the rooftop and the terraced 2nd floor, each with a different layout. The watermelon slushie, packed with real watermelon, was hands down the best watermelon drink I've had all year.

A Gangneung day trip, to a café right by Sacheonjin Beach in Gyeongpodae
The highlight of last weekend's Gangneung day trip was, no question, the sea! Gangneung means Gyeongpodae, Gyeongpodae means Gangneung!! Looking for somewhere to dip our toes near Sacheonjin Beach in Gyeongpodae, I ended up at Baegya Coffee, which people say has an amazing ocean view along with great coffee and bakery items!!
Before going I scrolled through a ton of reviews of Baegya Coffee — the ocean view is a given, apparently, but the coffee and bakery, the basics of any café, are supposedly excellent too. So I went in with high expectations! Hahaha
Baegya Coffee location and hours
Let's start with the basics~ The address is 607 Haean-ro, Gangneung-si, Gangwon (18 Anhyeon-dong, Gangneung-si, Gangwon), open daily 09:00–21:00, last order 20:30.
By public transit: 1) By KTX — get off at KTX Gangneung Station, take bus 202-1, get off at Gyeongpo Beach, then it's about a 15-minute walk to the café. 2) By intercity/express bus — get off at Gangneung intercity/express bus terminal, take bus 202-1, get off at Gyeongpo Beach, then about a 15-minute walk. You must take the regular 202-1 bus, don't forget~ Hahaha
A big bakery café, even from the outside
Let's start with the exterior of Baegya Coffee, the Gangneung ocean-view café, the big Gangneung bakery café, the Gyeongpodae café everyone talks about~

The weather that day was seriously perfect. Not too hot at all, just right for an outing, for travel~ (Gangneung, thanks for the welcome) (Thank you, Baegya Coffee!) Even from outside you can tell it's a big bakery café through and through! It's four floors — 1st through 4th — so it really is a big bakery. Floors 1 to 3 are indoor, and the 4th floor is a rooftop terrace~

Floor layout and how to order
The 1st floor is for ordering, pickup, returns and parking; the 2nd floor is the NIGHT floor with tables, terrace (no-kids-zone), restroom and parking; the 3rd floor is the WHITE floor with tables, terrace (no-kids-zone) and restroom. Whew... you order on the 1st floor, so I'd recommend having one person place the order while the rest of your group heads up to grab a seat~ (Looked like seats could run out when it gets crowded!) Now let's look at the menu~

The coffee prices are pretty reasonable for a famous ocean-view spot at a tourist destination haha (too many places are overpriced these days). Since it's a big Gangneung bakery café, let's go check out the bakery display~
Browsing the bakery case and what we ordered

I'm an egg tart fan, so I ordered an egg tart and a mini mocha butter pound cake. Normally I'd get 3-4 breads, but we'd eaten so much rice already, so this time just those two~ haha. For drinks, my wife got an iced Americano and I got a watermelon slushie~

It came out right away haha. We'd already grabbed a spot on the 3rd floor, so up we went~

How the watermelon slushie and egg tart tasted
The watermelon slushie is genuinely packed with real watermelon, whew... of all the watermelon drinks I've had this year, Baegya Coffee's watermelon slushie is hands down number one!! Now what next? Gotta try the egg tart~ hahaha

Whew... the egg tart is so sweet and nutty and soft haha
3rd-floor ocean view, the rooftop, and the terraced 2nd floor
Now let's take a look around the ocean view and the café~ First, the 3rd floor we came up to!

Whew, the view is seriously killer~ I've been to quite a few ocean-view cafés in Gangneung, and Baegya Coffee is genuinely number one! Let's go check out the rooftop scenery~

Now let's head to the 2nd floor. It's got a terraced layout, quite different from the 3rd floor. It's fun how the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors each have such a different vibe!

Even the restrooms were really clean and tidy. You could really feel how much care the owner put into every detail haha
Parking and final thoughts
Sitting right in front of Sacheonjin Beach in Gyeongpodae, this ocean view is an absolute boss! I'd seriously highly recommend Baegya Coffee haha. There's parking right out front plus a big lot behind, so parking stress shouldn't be an issue... For the best Gangneung ocean-view café, the big Gangneung bakery café, the go-to Gyeongpodae café, the answer is Bae. gya. Coffee!! Hahahaha
