Jeju restaurant for mac and cheese and Cajun shrimp: Dixie's

I visited Dixie's (딕시스), where you can have Southern American food near Jeju Dongmun Market. This time, I was more curious about the rice bowl and mac and cheese than the burgers, so I ordered the Cajun Shrimp and Mac & Chicken.

Where is Dixie's, and is parking convenient?

The restaurant is on the first floor at 24 Gwandeok-ro 8-gil, Jeju-si. I drove there and used the Jungang-ro Shopping Street Public Parking Lot. It is paid parking, but the lot was fairly large and the fee felt reasonable, so it was convenient to visit.

The building exterior already had an American feel. People passing by also stopped to look over the menu.

The hours posted at the time of my visit were 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with regular closure on Tuesdays. A break time from 3:00 to 4:30 PM was also posted.

Is it good for dining alone?

The interior was neat, with seating ranging from four-person tables to seats for one. I thought it would feel easy enough to come for a meal alone. It also had a good atmosphere for eating with friends or a partner.

Utensils were self-service. Utensils, wet wipes, and other items were set out near the entrance, so I took what I needed.

There was also a restroom inside the restaurant, which was convenient during the meal.

What was included during lunch hour?

At the time of my visit, lunch hour ran from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. The notice said a cola or a mini side was free, and the mini-side choices were mac and cheese or fries. I thought it could be a good place to stop for lunch while looking around Dongmun Market.

What did I order, and how much was it?

I was also curious about the Nashville hot chicken burger, but that day I chose the rice-based Cajun Shrimp and Mac & Chicken. My order listed Cajun Shrimp at ₩19,400, Mac & Chicken at ₩17,900, and Zero Cola at ₩3,000, for a total of ₩40,300. I added four shrimp to the Cajun Shrimp.

How were the chicken and mac and cheese in the Mac & Chicken?

The Mac & Chicken arrived first. The mac and cheese looked thick and rich, so I was curious about how it would taste.

The chicken was crisp outside and moist inside. It was slightly spicy, so I did not find it greasy or get tired of it easily.

The mac and cheese had a deep, nutty cheese flavor. Its especially thick texture suited my taste well.

How was the Cajun Shrimp with extra shrimp?

Cajun Shrimp is a rice bowl with rice inside. Since I like shrimp, I added four more.

The shrimp were plump, and I was glad I had added them.

There was sauce at the bottom, so I mixed it well before eating. Mixing it so that the sauce coated the rice and shrimp evenly gave it a flavor that felt different from what I usually eat. The rice grains were also long, with a texture unlike the rice I was used to.

The thick mac and cheese and plump shrimp stood out most from this meal. It was nice to try something different near Dongmun Market, and I also picked up a sticker to remember the visit.
