While looking for a place to eat in Geomdan, Incheon, two of us stopped by Taegine Jogae Jeongol Geomdan Ara Branch (택이네조개전골 인천검단아라점) at 5 p.m. on a weekday.
We ordered the tang-bossam set for two, choosing clam soup, along with a cola. The tang-bossam set for two was ₩28,000, and the cola was ₩2,000, for a total of ₩30,000.
I thought it was still early for dinner, but the restaurant was already packed with group diners. There were plenty of tables with several people eating together, so we got a preview of the evening dinner-rush atmosphere.
What comes in the clam soup and bossam set for two
The tang-bossam set we ordered lets you enjoy clam soup and bossam (boiled pork wrap) together. It was nice that you don't have to order seafood and meat separately — this menu combines them in one go.
The clam soup comes with clams, squid, fish cake, and vegetables, while the bossam comes with boiled pork and side dishes. One side is a warm seafood broth, the other a lean meat dish, so you get two different kinds of food at the same table.
The clam soup: clear, refreshing broth
The clam soup is a pot dish with clams, seafood, and vegetables together. As it simmers, the flavors from the ingredients add to the broth, and with squid and fish cake on top of the clams, there was a good variety of things to pick out.
Since it's a dish where you eat seafood together with hot broth, we naturally kept spooning up the soup throughout the meal.
If you prefer the clean, refreshing broth typical of seafood over something spicy, this menu suits you well.
Lean bossam pork with dried radish strips
The bossam comes with boiled pork plus side dishes like dried radish (mumallaengi).
Eating the lean meat with the spicy, crunchy dried radish changes up the texture and brings a shift in flavor in your mouth.
Had we only ordered the clam soup, the meal would have been mostly seafood, but with bossam included, we also got to eat meat, making the overall menu much more varied.
After finishing the clam soup, you can add kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) to the leftover broth to wrap up the meal. Adding noodles to the broth from the seafood turns it into a different dish from the clam soup you started with.
Since the meal builds from soup and bossam to noodles at the end, it was a filling way for two people to finish a meal.
Barley rice self-serve corner and ice cream dessert
The restaurant also has a self-serve corner for barley rice. You can eat it with yeolmu kimchi (young radish greens kimchi), seasoned sauce, and sesame oil, which was handy to pair with the main dish.
After the meal, ice cream is also available, so dessert is easy to take care of too. It stood out that there were things to enjoy before and after the main dish, not just the main course itself.

Even though we visited at 5 p.m. on a weekday, the restaurant was already packed with group diners. There were many tables with several people eating together, so it felt more suited to visiting with family, friends, or a work group than to eating alone quietly.
