Gyodong Korean restaurant with a solo bossam set meal: Uldong Bossam
In short
Uldong Bossam is a Korean restaurant in Gyodong, Jung-gu, Daegu, where bossam (boiled pork wraps) comes as a set meal for one. The writer visited with a child and ate odor-free, juicy bossam in a bright, tidy dining room, along with a rich doenjang (soybean paste) stew full of pork and a thin, crispy cheese potato pancake. Uldong Bossam suits everything from solo lunches to a light family dinner.

I was looking for a good Korean restaurant around Jung-gu, Daegu, and ended up at Uldong Bossam, which recently opened near my place. I like bossam (boiled pork wraps) in general, but a lot of bossam spots have this vibe where you feel like you need a group to go.

But this place was a bit different. The bossam comes out as a neat individual set meal, so it's great for solo dining and just as good for a casual meal with a friend.

The location in Gyodong also makes it easy to get to, so it's a good option for anyone searching for good restaurants near Dongseongro or around Daegu City Hall.

What Uldong Bossam's dining room in Gyodong is like
The first thing I noticed walking in was, "this is way cleaner than I expected." You'd normally picture a bossam place as a slightly old-school Korean restaurant, but Uldong Bossam's interior was bright and tidy, which I liked.

The tables weren't cramped, and the overall clean look made it easy to visit as a family. These days, the atmosphere matters just as much as the taste when it comes to eating comfortably.

I visited with my child, and thanks to the clean atmosphere, we could eat much more comfortably.
How the solo bossam set meal is served
What I liked most about Uldong Bossam was that the bossam comes out as an individual set for each person.

Usually bossam is ordered in a large size and shared among several people, but here, each person gets their own tray, which makes for a much neater meal. That made me think it'd be good to meet a friend here, or even for lunch or dinner near the office.

No need to debate over the menu together — each person's food comes out separately, which feels much more relaxed! The pork itself was odor-free, tender, and had just the right moisture.

The meat quality really matters with bossam, and the ratio of fatty parts to lean meat here was good — it paired really well with the kimchi on the side.
The doenjang stew: rich and full of pork
Surprisingly, what stuck with me most was the doenjang stew (soybean paste stew). I only expected the main dish to be memorable, but the stew was genuinely delicious.

It had plenty of meat and a rich flavor that went great with rice, and having a bite of bossam followed by a spoonful of the stew was a perfect combo. The side dishes served alongside were also neatly done, making the whole meal feel complete.
Cheese potato pancake, the side dish worth ordering
There's one more menu item I have to mention: the potato pancake! Honestly, I went for the bossam and didn't expect the potato pancake to be this memorable too, haha.

They sprinkle cheese over a thinly fried potato pancake, and it was fun just to look at. The pancake's signature crispy texture combined with the cheese flavor gave it a unique twist. The edges were so crispy that even my kid asked, "is this a snack?" and dug right in, haha.

It's not too strong in flavor and has a crispy texture, making it a great side dish to order when visiting with a child.
Is Uldong Bossam worth a visit in Gyodong, Daegu?
Uldong Bossam impressed with the bossam itself, but what I appreciated most was how easy it was to eat there comfortably. The clean interior, the individual set meal format, the odor-free bossam, the delicious doenjang stew, and the surprising potato pancake — it's a great spot for a casual meal, and just as good for a family meal or a gathering with friends. If you're looking for Korean food near Dongseongro or a good restaurant around Daegu City Hall, it's worth a visit.

Next time I visit, I'll definitely order the bossam again — and the potato pancake too, haha.
