I had a lunch date with a friend. Trying to decide what to eat, we settled on meat that day — nothing beats grilling slowly and chatting away while you're at it.
This time we went to Galbigumteo Pungmu Station Branch (갈비굼터 풍무역점). I visited as part of a Super Members experience group, and what my friend and I actually ate was two servings of handmade domestic king pork ribs and one naengmyeon (cold noodles).
Spoiler: the menu choice was a win. Put the meat on, chat, eat once it's cooked, grab another bite because it's good. We walked out happy after a charcoal-grilled ribs spread — a solid Pungmu-dong restaurant.

Location, parking, and group seating at Galbigumteo Pungmu Station Branch

It's near Pungmu Station, and you can park either in front of or behind the restaurant. There's group seating and private rooms, and even a projector, so you could combine a meal with a meeting. It's a good setup if you're looking for a gathering spot or a Pungmu-dong restaurant for a group dinner in Gimpo.

Staff also told me they're open on public holidays, and open this Chuseok too. You know those days when the whole family gathers and nobody wants to cook? This seems like a good place to remember for that.

Doing brisk lunch business, but no meat smell in the restaurant
We had a 2pm reservation but met a bit early, arriving around 1:30pm. It was smack in the middle of lunch service, and one thing surprised me as we walked in.
There was barely any meat smell. At a lot of Korean BBQ places you walk out with the smell in your clothes and hair, but even during busy lunch service, the air here was pretty fresh.

The tables aren't packed too tightly together either, and sunlight coming through the windows keeps the interior bright and clean. It felt like a place that works for a casual lunch with a friend, a family meal, or a group gathering.

Menu, prices, and the lunch special before 3pm
With a name like Galbigumteo, pork ribs was the first thing that came to mind, but the menu actually covers a wider range from beef to pork than I expected.
- Premium garlic-marinated rib meat + raw rib meat 800g ₩69,900
- Premium king beef short ribs 300g ₩25,900
- Premium beef rib meat 180g ₩22,900
- Handmade domestic king pork ribs 300g ₩19,900
- Handmade domestic pork ribs 250g ₩15,900
Beef or pork — we didn't debate long and went with pork ribs: two servings of handmade domestic king pork ribs and one naengmyeon, ordered straight from the tablet at the table.

Looking at the menu board, the prices caught my eye again. Before 3pm, there's a pork ribs + water naengmyeon lunch special for ₩17,900. There are also non-grilling lunch options — king galbitang ₩12,000, stir-fried pork with doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) ₩12,000, cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew) ₩10,000.
I'm often out in this area for work, so I'm definitely coming back at lunchtime. Being able to have both grilled meat and naengmyeon in one sitting makes this worth remembering if you're looking for a good-value restaurant in Pungmu-dong. Cheap alone doesn't make a place good value — being able to properly enjoy what you actually want to eat, at a fair price, is what I'd call real value.

Kimchi pancake you fry yourself at the self-bar
The table was set with lettuce wraps, a generous pile of sliced onion, chili peppers, and basic side dishes to go with the meat. But there was something else fun about this place: kimchi pancake.

You fry it yourself at the self-bar. Getting to eat a hot, freshly fried kimchi pancake is a pretty fun touch. And it actually tastes great too. My friend and I fried one and started chatting before the meat even arrived. Between the self-bar for extra side dishes and a make-it-yourself item like this, these little details made the place feel like good value.
Two servings of handmade domestic king pork ribs, 600g
Whoa. That's huge.

The meat we'd been waiting for finally arrived. Whoa, that's huge. So that's why it's called handmade king pork ribs. One serving is 300g, so two servings comes to 600g total — plenty to start with for two people.

We put the thick ribs straight onto the charcoal — sizzle. Once the grilling starts, the chatting takes a back seat for a bit.

Since it's marinated meat, it can burn quickly if you look away, so we kept flipping it and cut it into bite-sized pieces once it was mostly cooked. The smell while grilling alone was already promising.
First bite of a nicely browned piece. Delicious. Marinated ribs can get sickly sweet after a few bites, but this sauce here had sweetness without being overpowering.
How to put it — it wasn't an artificial sweetness slapping you in the face, but a natural sweetness that seemed to come from the ingredients themselves. Add the charcoal aroma on top, and I kept reaching for more. My friend then said one thing.
You're not really a 'not into meat' person, are you?
No, that's not it. It's just genuinely delicious — that's the comment that came out naturally while we ate.
I kept picking up more meat, then tried a spoonful of the doenjang jjigae. Wait, why is this good too? I don't usually eat doenjang jjigae much. There I was, coming for grilled meat and ending up spooning up jjigae as well. Curious, I asked the owner directly.
Domestic pork marinated 72 hours in a fruit-and-vegetable sauce
The owner said the pork used here is domestic. The sauce isn't store-bought either — it's made in-house from fruits and vegetables like pear, apple, and onion, and the ribs go through a 72-hour aging process before serving.
That explained where the not-too-sweet flavor I'd noticed was coming from. Even in the middle of a busy service, the owner grilled the meat for us personally, which probably made it taste even better. Anything worth doing takes care, but food especially — from ingredients to prep, seasoning, and aging — takes a lot of hands-on work. When I call a restaurant a 'good, honest place,' I don't just mean cheap prices.
A place using domestic raw ingredients, making its own sauce, aging the meat, and still keeping prices reasonable — that's what I saw here. It wasn't just the price, but the care that went into the food, that made this a genuinely good Pungmu-dong restaurant.

Eating it plain, then wrapped in lettuce
The first few bites were just meat. This time, a leaf of lettuce.

Ribs on the lettuce, onion and chili added, one big bite. Eating it with the crunchy vegetables made it go down even easier. Chatting with my friend, flipping the meat, grabbing a well-cooked piece here and there — before we knew it, the two servings had disappeared faster than expected. That's the fun of eating meat with a friend.

Finishing with naengmyeon, ₩9,000
We were pretty full by then, but something still felt missing. Naengmyeon. We ended up ordering one to share. It's ₩9,000. A sip of the cold, slushy broth first, then a slurp of noodles — it felt even more refreshing after the sweet marinated ribs.

I like topping naengmyeon with radish salad or skate salad, and that combo is hard to get wrong. Add a piece of charcoal-grilled ribs on top and that's the perfect finish. That's how we wrapped up two servings of handmade domestic king pork ribs and one naengmyeon between the two of us.
A Pungmu-dong restaurant that gets both taste and price right

We came for charcoal-grilled ribs, but looking back, quite a few things stuck with me.
- Domestic pork
- In-house fruit-and-vegetable sauce and 72-hour aging
- 300g of handmade domestic king pork ribs for ₩19,900
- Self-fried kimchi pancake at the self-bar
- ₩17,900 pork ribs + water naengmyeon lunch special before 3pm
A place where the price you paid for good food doesn't feel wasted — that's what I consider a good-value, honest restaurant when I write these posts. With everything from beef to pork on the menu, plus group seating, private rooms, and a projector, it works well for family meals and as a group dinner spot in Pungmu-dong, Gimpo.
Since it's open on public holidays, including this Chuseok, it's also worth keeping in mind for a holiday family gathering. Most of all, my friend and I ate well and talked plenty that day.
Grilling meat, eating a piece, grilling more because it's good, finishing it all off with naengmyeon — my friend and I properly enjoyed a charcoal-grilled ribs spread at Galbigumteo Pungmu Station Branch, a solid restaurant in Pungmu-dong.
