Nowon hair salon for damaged hair: Yeum Hair Nowon District Office

I have very curly hair, so I tend to get a straightening treatment or straightening-and-setting treatment once or twice a year. Since these treatments require sitting for a long time, I care about the consultation and salon atmosphere as much as the result. This time, after my hair had broken following a straightening-and-setting treatment elsewhere, I went back to Yeum Hair Nowon District Office branch (예움헤어 노원구청점), which I had been visiting for some time.

How do you get there from Nowon Station?

Yeum Hair Nowon District Office branch is about a three-minute walk from Exit 7 of Nowon Station. It is on the second floor of the building opposite Nowon District Office, so it was not difficult to find.

I took Line 4, transferred to a bus, and got off near Nowon District Office, so I arrived quickly. If you visit by car, you can also use the nearby Nowon District Office public parking lot.

How was my damaged hair assessed?

The director, who has handled my hair treatments for several years, first checked its condition and explained what results I could expect from the treatment.

I liked that they clearly explained what was and was not possible in my current condition. They also carried out the straightening treatment carefully.

Before the treatment, I thought the damage was not too severe because I had only looked at the visible outer layer. But after shampooing and checking the inner layers, the director said my hair was in worse condition than I had thought.

After getting a straightening-and-setting treatment at another salon, I felt that a lot of hair was falling out. Later, I realized it was not shedding but breaking due to damage. My hair felt rough from top to bottom, and I had been wondering whether to grow it out somewhat before getting another straightening treatment.

What was the clinic treatment in the private room like?

One feature I especially like at Yeum Hair is its separate private hair spa room. I could use a massage chair while receiving the hair clinic treatment.

During the lengthy straightening treatment, I was glad to have time to lie down comfortably.

With steam care for my hair and the massage chair for my body, I quickly became drowsy. I had even fallen asleep on a previous visit, and when I visited after work on a weekday, I was able to rest comfortably while receiving care.

How were the results after the straightening treatment and clinic?

I was pleased to feel the silky texture of my hair again, something I had thought would be difficult to expect after the treatment.

Above all, I appreciated that they explained what could be done with my hair in its current condition rather than proceeding with the setting perm I had originally wanted.

I was also impressed by how they adjusted the processing time for the products and cared for my hair according to its condition. This experience made me feel that, when getting a straightening treatment on damaged hair, it is important to consult on what treatments are possible before deciding on the style you want.

Was the salon comfortable for a long appointment?

Over several visits, I found the salon clean and pleasant. The staff communicated in a relaxed way, so I felt less awkward and was comfortable from the consultation through the treatment.

I tend to feel confined when sitting in a hair salon for a long time, but I liked being able to look outside through the large windows here. I passed the time watching the trees move and children walking outside.
