Busan Songjeong café
My husband, baby and I went to Songjeong in Busan a while back. I lived in Busan my whole life, but after moving to a neighboring town, going to Busan now feels like a little trip — haha. So everywhere felt new and pretty, and that's the mood we brought to this Busan visit!
Today I'm introducing Suwolgyeonghwa (수월경화), a café in Songjeong, Busan. It's a great date spot for couples, a nice place to bring your parents, and — like us — a great place to visit with a baby.

A different mood on each floor, order on the 4th floor
The layout was fascinating. Each floor had a slightly different atmosphere — the 3rd floor even runs tea ceremony classes and has seating to sit and drink. Orders are placed on the 4th floor, so we headed up there, looked around, found a spot we liked, and decided to sit and eat there haha.
They've also won so many awards that I'd wanted to visit for a while — I went in with high expectations!! Even the menu had a distinct, full sense of style.

There were more tea and coffee options than I expected, which was nice, and the unusual names made it all feel fresh and new.
There were a lot of unfamiliar teas, so I was torn, but I liked that you could smell them beforehand and choose. I wanted one cup that was warming and one that was decaf, so I went with a cup of Louis Wolju. I also picked a Dalbodeure box, which looked like a dessert you couldn't find anywhere else!
Songjeong ocean views and the beach train through floor-to-ceiling windows
The café has floor-to-ceiling windows, so there were plenty of seats with full views of Songjeong Beach. We brought the baby chair over to one of those seats!
While we sat there, a train actually went by! My baby, who's recently gotten into anything with wheels, was thrilled — pure lucky Vicky energy.
By the way, the times the beach train passes are also posted clearly, so you won't miss it — such a thoughtful touch!
The buzzer went off and I went to pick up our order — wow, the visuals!! The ocean view, the train view, and traditional Korean desserts all went together perfectly.
There were actually some foreign visitors at the next table, and I found myself feeling weirdly proud!
Louis Wolju: smell it before you sip
They let you smell the tea before drinking it haha. My baby smelled it along with me! We'd just eaten a huge Korean meal and wanted something to cleanse the palate, and this was perfect — not too strong, but pleasantly sweet haha.
The Dalbodeure box: gim (seaweed) pollock roe financier stood out
The Dalbodeure box had a really good lineup — every single item was delicious. If it were all just traditional-style sweets it might feel plain, but having a financier in the mix made it feel different. It was a gim (seaweed) pollock roe financier, and the savory, salty flavor was great! My baby ate it well too. I especially loved the red bean butter monaka and the injeolmi rice cake!
Why it was so good to visit with a baby
Suwolgyeonghwa in Songjeong, Busan felt so different because of the ocean view and the train view, but the drinks and desserts were also refreshingly unique. Even as a Korean, I loved it this much — I imagine foreign travelers would love it just as much!
Also, having a baby chair made it such an easy visit with a little one :) A day of watching the choo-choo train to my baby's heart's content!!! Highly recommend if you want a slightly special café instead of the same old ordinary spot.
