Sokcho sundubu restaurant breakfast with a baby in a stroller: Jinsol
In short
Jinsol Halmeoni Sundubu is a soft tofu (sundubu) restaurant on the Haksapyeong sundubu street in Sokcho, Gangwon, known for Chodang sundubu and spicy seafood sundubu. On the morning of day two of a Gangwon trip, a parking attendant saw the baby in the stroller and led the family to a quiet separated room instead of the noisy main hall, where they ate spicy seafood sundubu (17,000 won) and wild greens bibimbap (13,000 won). For a relaxed breakfast with a baby in Sokcho, Jinsol Halmeoni Sundubu made it easy.

Day two in Gangwon: breakfast on Sokcho's sundubu street
Day two of our Gangwon trip. We left our Sokcho lodging planning to head to Pyeongchang on the way back to Seoul. But we had to eat breakfast first, right? Since we were in Sokcho, we went looking for a Chodang sundubu (soft tofu) place! Turns out there's a whole Sokcho tofu village set up here.
Out of the many tofu restaurants, we ended up at Jinsol Halmeoni Sundubu! Bottom line — the staff were so kind that we left completely satisfied. Let me introduce this Sokcho tofu spot that turned out to be perfect for breakfast.

Where is Jinsol Halmeoni Sundubu, and is there parking?
📍 Address — 118 Wonamhaksapyeong-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do, South Korea.

📍 Parking — a large lot right in front of the restaurant, with staff always on duty.
There were so many group tour buses coming from hiking clubs! This place is optimal for group bookings.

The quiet separated seating offered for a baby in a stroller
My first impression walking in — wow, so many seats, and food was already fully set out on the tables! That was because a group of tour bus guests were about to arrive. And even that photo is only part of the restaurant..! Haha, it was truly huge. The kind of place where you'd never have to worry about waiting, no matter when you show up @_@ — a really comfortable feeling, haha.
A wonderfully thoughtful, kind staff member out in the parking lot told us the main hall could get crowded and noisy, so they led us to a separate, quiet space instead! Since we had a baby, they were considerate enough to think of us first — and thanks to that, the baby slept soundly in the stroller in total quiet while we enjoyed our meal. I was so touched I almost wished I'd had cash on me to tip him, haha.

Ta-da. This is what it looked like, haha. Thank you so much, sir!

Spicy seafood sundubu 17,000 won and wild greens bibimbap 13,000 won
- Spicy seafood sundubu (짬뽕해물순두부) — ₩17,000
- Wild greens bibimbap (산채비빔밥) — ₩13,000
These are the two dishes we ordered! The spicy seafood sundubu — clearly my husband's kind of dish — was loaded with abalone, shrimp, squid, and scallops! I was going to just have plain Chodang sundubu, but when I found out ordering the wild greens bibimbap gets you a bowl of Chodang sundubu on the side too, I went with the bibimbap instead!

The Chodang sundubu that comes with the wild greens bibimbap
The Chodang sundubu that came with the wild greens bibimbap! The seasoning was just right, making it even more savory and clean-tasting. We ate it up nice and warm together. And we finished off the wild greens bibimbap too, down to the last bite @_@ Five kinds of vegetables — dried greens, chwinamul, dosari, bracken fern, and shiitake — went so well with the perilla oil that we deliberately skipped the gochujang (red chili paste) and mixed it without! It's a tofu restaurant, but I'd honestly recommend this dish highly.
The side dishes were excellent too, weren't they? If you run out, you can just help yourself to more.

Free tofu lees (biji) to take home on your way out
Since they make their tofu in-house, if you ask on your way out, they'll pack up some tofu lees (biji) for you! We didn't have time since we weren't heading straight home, so sadly we passed — but this is definitely a Sokcho tofu spot I'd love to come back to. Thanks for the meal!
