Sokcho café with Ulsanbawi window view: corn latte, tissue bread at

I took a late vacation to Sokcho, Gangwon last week haha. After wandering all around Sokcho Jungang Market and heading back to the accommodation, I caught sight of Ulsanbawi Rock on Seoraksan through the car window!

I was struck all over again by how stunning this scenery is in our own country... and suddenly craved coffee like crazy, so I did an emergency search!

Let me share my honest review of Cafe Neorae, a Sokcho café famous for its open view and stunning floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Ulsanbawi Rock on Seoraksan!

Cafe Neorae location, hours, and parking

• Address: 114 Wonam-haksapyeong-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do, South Korea (2nd–4th floor above Yetgoeul Sundubu)
• Hours: 09:00 - 18:00 (closed 2nd and 4th Wednesdays each month)
• Parking: There's a dedicated parking lot for the café, so you can park easily!

On the 1st floor of this building is the well-known sundubu (soft tofu stew) restaurant 'Yetgoeul Sundubu'! If you bring your receipt after eating there, you get a whopping 10% off café drinks. I'd already eaten so I went straight up to the café, but next time I'm definitely eating a hearty sundubu meal downstairs first and grabbing that discount haha.

Cafe Neorae is a massive Sokcho café that takes up the entire 2nd to 4th floors (including the rooftop)! Taking the elevator up, the moment you step into the counter and hall on the 2nd floor, this refreshing floor-to-ceiling window opens up

Warm wood interior, moody lighting, and that window view — all three coming together perfectly, so gorgeous!!!

On the 2nd floor there's a spot laid out like a walking path, and if you follow it along

you reach an Instagram-worthy photo zone. The lighting is so pretty, definitely recommend snapping a shot here haha

There are also seats set up near the stairs going up to the 3rd floor

and true to its title as an Ulsanbawi-view café, the rock appears right there like a painting.

We took a window seat on the 3rd floor, and this is exactly what healing looks like!!!

Such a lush, summery green mountain view... perfect for zoning out~~~

Deep inside the 2nd floor there's also a small window framing the scenery like a picture, in a quiet, private corner that looked great for couples chatting together!

The 4th floor is a rooftop — we couldn't use it since it was peak summer, but even just glancing at that view made me think it'd be amazing on a cool, breezy autumn day.

There's a whole counter lined with slice cakes and various baked goods, enough to make any bread-lover's heart race,,,

How were the Neorae Latte, Chodang Corn Latte, and Tissue Bread?

After much deliberation, here's what we picked!

• Neorae Latte (₩7,500)
• Chodang Corn Latte (₩7,500)
• Tissue Bread (₩6,000)

When our drinks and bread arrived, the visuals alone earned a passing grade right away

First, Cafe Neorae's signature Neorae Latte — the moment you take a sip, it's smooth and

behind the sweet cream there's a nutty depth, so good you keep drinking it without thinking until it's magically all gone haha

My husband's Chodang corn latte was also sweet with a rich, spreading corn flavor — perfect for sipping down easily..!

As for the tissue bread, the moment we laid eyes on it we just had to buy it

There's a microwave at the self-bar, and we saw a note saying it tastes even better warmed up for about 30 seconds, so we did that right away, heh.

Tearing the bread apart along its layers, the butter aroma just hits you full force, ㅠㅠㅠ

Crispy outside, moist inside — great even plain, but slather on the strawberry jam from the self-bar and it's absolutely insane (in the best way)

To sum up

The majestic Ulsanbawi Rock of Seoraksan, which I happened to spot during my trip, led me to this café — but it turned out to actually be a bakery and coffee gem!!!!!!
