Ansan beef restaurant lunch with flower ribs and naengmyeon: Yangsimso

Geonu had taken his TOEIC exam that day, so he’d been working hard since morning—and we went to Yangsimso Ansan Gojan Branch for something delicious! We had come here together before for the flower rib lunch special, and the meat quality was soooo good that we were really happy with it. It was tasty with rice last time too, haha, but it was incredibly hot this day, so we ordered the Flower Rib Naengmyeon Set, which comes with cool noodles 💛

My boyfriend picked bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles), and I picked mul naengmyeon (cold noodles in broth). The fresh flower rib meat included in the lunch special came in a generous portion—nothing skimpy about it—and the marbling and quality were seriously amazing! We each got a proper full bowl of naengmyeon too, so we left absolutely stuffed, haha.

The exterior is tidy, and the big Yangsimso sign makes it really easy to find, haha.

I felt this last time too, but the interior is clean and the tables are nicely spaced out. The backrests are very tall, creating a private, partitioned kind of feel, haha.

It’s great for a date or family meal, and the staff are kind too, so you start feeling good the moment you walk in!-!

Banchan and the Flower Rib Naengmyeon Set

One thing I love about Yangsimso is the variety of banchan (Korean side dishes)! There’s kimchi, pickles, pickled onions, and vegetables to eat with the meat—and every single one is delicious, you know? haha. It was also convenient that we could help ourselves to more side dishes when we ran out!

Flower Rib Naengmyeon Set ₩34,000

This time, we ordered two Flower Rib Naengmyeon Sets from the lunch special menu at ₩34,000 each, hahaha.

The flower ribs were great quality and delicious on their own when we came before, but today’s meat had such pretty marbling too. I was so happy to see these thick-cut flower ribs ❤️

For my boyfriend who worked hard taking the TOEIC today, it was Giniku-style grilling service just for today 😎 We both like our meat around medium, so I timed both sides carefully to keep all those juices in! Please call the slightly crisp-looking exterior… a sear~

The charcoal heat didn’t suddenly weaken or flare up while we grilled, so the meat cooked evenly. It’s such a good fire even for an amateur griller!

Medium, just how we wanted it—about one-third cooked from each side!

After cutting it into easy-to-eat pieces, we cooked each piece a little more to our own liking!

I looooved the flower ribs’ signature tender yet pleasantly chewy texture, and every bite burst with juice ❤️

A light dip in sesame oil first brings out that subtle charcoal aroma, then the nutty richness of the fat and beefy flavor spread all through your mouth, hehe.

Add a little shiitake wasabi, and its sharp kick cuts through the richness—so I feel like I could eat beef forever!

My beloved pickled chili peppers weren’t very spicy, but their salty, refreshing taste went so well with the beef!

Mul Naengmyeon or Bibim Naengmyeon: Pick Your Favorite

Mul Naengmyeon

I chose mul naengmyeon for my meal! It wasn’t a tiny dessert-sized serving; it was a proper full bowl of naengmyeon! With slivers of ice floating on top, it was so refreshing, and the broth itself was very clean-tasting. One bite of mul naengmyeon after the flower ribs felt like it swept away all the oil left in my mouth~~~

Bibim Naengmyeon

My boyfriend chose bibim naengmyeon! It wasn’t intensely spicy; the moderately spicy, tangy sauce went really well with the noodle broth~ I stole a bite too, and the mul naengmyeon was cool and clean, while the bibim naengmyeon had lovely spicy-tangy savoriness, so I think you can simply choose according to your taste!

The bibim naengmyeon came with dongchimi (radish water kimchi) broth separately, which was nice to pour in whenever it felt a little dry!

Also perfect with a piece of flower rib on top.

Little Things to Pick Up After Your Meal

Pop a little candy into your mouth as you leave after the meat, and you feel refreshed, haha. They also have floss and mouthwash ready!

After the delicious meat and naengmyeon, we had chocolate cake and coffee for dessert!

My boyfriend had been taking his TOEIC exam near Ansan Jungang Station since morning, so we visited Yangsimso Ansan Gojan Branch, a beef restaurant where he could recharge! We had the Flower Rib Set last time, and it was genuinely delicious with great value, so we came back with high expectations. The Flower Rib Naengmyeon Set was a success too! The flower ribs, grilled over good charcoal, had a lovely subtle smoky aroma and were full of juices, and we were beyond satisfied with a generous bowl each of cool mul naengmyeon and spicy-tangy bibim naengmyeon!!! If you want a proper grilled beef lunch in Gojan-dong, Ansan, or love the beef-and-naengmyeon combination, I totally recommend the Flower Rib Naengmyeon Set ◡̈
