Hi everyone, today I'm bringing you a review of Ttangkkeut Maeul, the #1-rated sashimi restaurant at Noryangjin Fish Market.
If you're looking for the freshest, most delicious sashimi in Seoul, I really want to recommend Ttangkkeut Maeul. It's the top-reviewed shop on the Mermaid Queen Pirates (인어교주 해적단) platform, so you can buy with confidence!!
Ttangkkeut Maeul's medium premium sashimi platter: price and what's inside
The menu I ordered for takeout was the premium sashimi platter, medium size. Sashimi starts from ₩60,000 depending on the type of fish, and you can also choose ingredients for spicy fish stew.

First I was floored by the overwhelming quality and generous portion of Ttangkkeut Maeul's sashimi, and then floored again by how kind the market staff were. The menu is varied with plenty of options, so you can pick according to your taste!

What I took home was the premium sashimi platter, medium size — plenty for three or four people to eat well! Sashimi starts from ₩60,000 depending on the type, so it's really accessible too! (You can also add spicy fish stew ingredients!)

The basic platter was made up of red seabream, flounder, red snapper, sea bass, salmon and bluefin tuna, plus gizzard shad on the side! The sashimi was even stacked two layers deep, so once you eat through the top there's a whole packed layer underneath — really generous — and they loaded it up with plenty of wasabi, pickled radish and ginger too.

How the sashimi tasted, right down to the gizzard shad
Ttangkkeut Maeul's premium sashimi platter had absolutely no fishy smell. Can you tell how firm and pale pink and fresh the sashimi looks?
No fishy smell at all — every piece was clean, fresh and moist, and it was really wonderful!

With seabream, if you lightly blanch the skin in warm water it becomes firm and delicious in its own way, but here the skin was already firm and chewy — absolutely the best!

Also, I can't eat anything fishy so I usually prefer white fish the most, but here even the other fish were all so delicious! Who knew gizzard shad could be completely non-fishy and actually nutty and delicious! So it was fun comparing each type piece by piece and finding each one's own charm! The salmon was moist and rich, and eaten with wasabi it was truly delicious.
How to walk to Ttangkkeut Maeul from Noryangjin Station
Ttangkkeut Maeul is a short walk from Exit 9 of Noryangjin Station on Lines 1 and 9. It's really easy to find and close to the station, so anyone getting around on foot like me should be able to visit comfortably!
I got off at Noryangjin Station on Line 9/1 and went out Exit 9! Once you go up the escalator, the wholesale market building is right there on the left!

Coming out of Exit 9 of Noryangjin Station, you'll see the wholesale market building of Noryangjin Fish Market — instead of going in the front entrance, go in through Namil-mun gate on the left side, and you can head straight to Ttangkkeut Maeul. Going in the front means walking on the wet market floor, so I'd recommend taking the side entrance!

After coming down, go straight to the left and in through Namil-mun gate — Ttangkkeut Maeul's shop is right there in the left-center!

Naver reservation, payment options and the Onnuri voucher refund event
You can get a discount at Ttangkkeut Maeul by ordering ahead through Naver Reservation, and the reservation page lets you check out the full range of menu options. Payment was possible in many ways — Naver Pay, Kakao Pay, Zero Pay, Onnuri gift vouchers and more.
I reserved ahead of time, and payment was possible through all sorts of methods — Naver Pay, Kakao Pay, Zero Pay, Onnuri vouchers, all of it! For a discount, book through Naver, and you can also browse the full menu there!

They're also running an Onnuri gift voucher refund event backed by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries from September 16 to September 20, 2026, so buying with Onnuri vouchers seems like a great idea too! Buy sashimi and get up to ₩20,000 refunded!

Waiting time and how Ttangkkeut Maeul packs the takeout
Since I picked up after reserving, there wasn't much of a wait at Ttangkkeut Maeul. The shop's fish tanks were spotless, and the staff were friendly, so while I waited I watched them prep the fish and looked at the tanks — it wasn't much of a wait since they got it ready fast!

The area where they prep the sashimi was really clean and hygienically managed, and they sliced and packed it right there, so it felt like I got it almost fresh off the cutting board!
From catching the fish to prepping it and slicing the sashimi and packing it up, it was all really fast — such professionals!
They packed it carefully with an ice pack and sauces — chojang, soy sauce, ssamjang — sealed it up and put it all in a big bag, so it was easy to carry home comfortably on the subway.

On my way out, I went out through Namil-mun gate and straight to the subway station haha.

Is Ttangkkeut Maeul the Noryangjin sashimi restaurant to stick with?
When I lived in a small city, there was never a day without sashimi on my table, but since moving to Seoul I've cut it down to about once a week... I've tried all sorts of places, and none were this fresh, this generous, and this friendly all at once — this was number one!
I've ordered delivery from Guro, Geumcheon, Yeongdeungpo and Dongjak, and tried several other spots at Noryangjin Fish Market too, but I think I don't need to keep trying anymore... (I'm settling here!)
That wraps up my review of Ttangkkeut Maeul, a top sashimi spot at Noryangjin Fish Market and the #1-reviewed shop on Mermaid Queen Pirates.
