Gimhae Korean restaurant B-set with seaweed soup: Gaya Kkeutjip

I have fond memories of eating well at Gaya Kkeutjip with my husband before! This time I went back for lunch with a friend who was about to give birth. I'd been craving a proper Korean set meal, and this Samgye-dong restaurant came to mind — since I'd loved it before, I wanted to bring my friend along too.

Where is Gaya Kkeutjip Samgye, and where do you park?

Gaya Kkeutjip is located at 6 Gayaro181beon-gil, Gimhae-si, Gyeongsangnam-do. With its red brick exterior and a big Gaya Kkeutjip sign, it wasn't hard to find.

There was parking info near the entrance too — at the time of my visit, you could use the Gaya parking lot right in front of and beside the restaurant, with 1 hour free if you have a meal.

Inside Gaya Kkeutjip Samgye and how long the wait runs

Inside, it's a bright, spacious room with several large tables. Some seats were separated by tall-backed partitions, which gave a nice sense of privacy.

From my experience, on weekdays a wait can form after 12pm. So if possible, I'd recommend visiting around 11:30am. It's one of the Gimhae restaurants that comes to mind when I want a proper, well-set Korean meal.

We ordered the Kkeutjip B-set for two. It's a set that comes with bossam (boiled pork wraps), clay-oven grilled fish, hand-made grilled tofu, seasoned crab, and various house side dishes.

What comes with the Kkeutjip B-set for two

It's a great menu choice from this Samgye-dong restaurant when you want to eat a variety of Korean dishes at one table.

Once the food started coming out, the table filled up quickly. Soup, grilled fish, tofu, a glass noodle dish, seaweed, and various side dishes were all laid out together.

You can tell at a glance how varied and neatly arranged the spread is, right?

From a plate of tofu and vegetables, to golden-grilled tofu, vegetable side dishes, and a japchae-style glass noodle dish — everything was good to pick at one by one.

Above all, nothing tasted overly strong or seasoned to me. Even though it was Korean food eaten out, it felt like a nice home-cooked meal.

Clay-oven grilled fish and the meaty seaweed soup

The Gaya Kkeutjip B-set also comes with a whole grilled fish.

The seaweed soup had big pieces of seaweed and plenty of meat in it. It wasn't just a bunch of side dishes — having fish and soup together made it feel like a properly complete meal.

Going back and forth between rice, side dishes, and fish made the meal feel much more abundant than if we'd ordered just one dish.

The bossam in the Kkeutjip B-set

And what I especially loved from the B-set was the bossam. The thinly sliced pork came neatly arranged, along with sauces and ingredients to go with it.

The bossam in particular was soft and delicious.

We piled rice and various ingredients onto seaweed sheets to eat, and also wrapped meat and toppings in lettuce leaves. Being able to mix and match side dishes, fish, and bossam at one table was another thing I liked.

Would I go back to Gaya Kkeutjip Samgye?

Visiting again after a long time, all my fond memories of this Samgye-dong restaurant came right back. If you prefer a neatly arranged Korean meal with various side dishes, fish and bossam over flashy, heavily seasoned food, this place should suit you well.
