I was craving clean, well-made Korean food for lunch, so I went to Gaya Kkeutjip in Samgye-dong, Gimhae. As soon as I arrived, I was relieved to see a spacious parking lot, so I could walk in without worrying about parking.

Parking at Gaya Kkeutjip: don't forget the stamp for the lot next door
There's a parking lot next to Gaya Kkeutjip. If you tell staff you parked there, they'll stamp your receipt like this. Just hand over the stamped receipt when you leave. Don't forget to get it stamped!!

How long is the lunch wait at Gaya Kkeutjip?
This place is so popular that when I showed up right at lunchtime, there was already a wait!

Luckily there was comfortable waiting seating both inside and outside the restaurant, so I calmly waited my turn. Once I stepped inside, the place was packed and buzzing with customers — so full that I honestly couldn't take as many interior photos as I wanted, haha.

Once seated, I ordered smartly through the table-order tablet. Extra side dishes could also be requested easily through the tablet without needing to flag down staff — really convenient.

What comes with the Kkeutjip C-set
What I ordered that day was the Kkeutjip C-set. It comes with steamed ray, clay-oven grilled fish, house-made grilled tofu, seasoned crab, and house side dishes — a really substantial lineup.

After ordering, a clean, generous spread arrived that practically buckled the table. The basic side dishes alone were on a whole other level.

The table was set with fresh salad, savory perilla-oil clay-oven grilled tofu made daily in-house, seasoned crab low-temperature aged for 15 days for a mild yet deep flavor, and umami-rich Sinan gopchang-gim (thick-cut Sinan laver).

The seaweed soup that came with it was also deeply flavorful, but with so many varied, generous side dishes on the table, I barely had the mental bandwidth to fully enjoy it!

How the 500-degree clay-oven mackerel tastes
Next came mackerel grilled in a 500-degree clay oven.
I don't usually go out of my way to eat mackerel, but the mackerel here was perfect — the kind of dish where 'demolished' is the only word that fits. Crispy outside, juicy inside, textbook execution.

Piling warm rice on Sinan gopchang-gim, adding a plump piece of mackerel, and wrapping it up was an absolute rice thief. Adding the seasoned crab on top too made for an insane combination.

Steamed ray (gaori-jjim): my first time trying it
And then the main dish I'd been looking forward to arrived — steamed ray (gaori-jjim)!

I'd never eaten ray in my life, and it turned out to be a completely different charm from what I imagined a typical grilled or braised fish would be — really fascinating. The flesh pulled apart cleanly along its grain, plump and generous in portion.

There was also garae-tteok (cylindrical rice cake) soaked in the sauce, and snipping it with scissors to dip in the seasoning was a real treat.

Piling the ray on top of cabbage to eat is the move.

The side dishes were so substantial and delicious that I diligently refilled extras through the table order and cleaned every single bowl before leaving.

Every single side dish was made with real care and the whole spread was so satisfying that I wiped every bowl clean before I left.

Why Gaya Kkeutjip works for a meal with parents
The food overall wasn't too salty and had a clean, refined quality, so I kept thinking this would be perfect for a meal with parents or elders. And on your way out, don't forget to get your parking receipt stamped! If you're looking for a clean, generous Korean set meal to enjoy a healthy, delicious meal with your parents, I highly recommend Gaya Kkeutjip in Samgye-dong!
