Seomyeon Korean BBQ bar seats with galchisokjeot dip: Anmin Busan

In short

Anmin Busan is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Busanjin, Busan, on the road from Seomyeon Station toward Bujeon Station, where staff grill and plate everything for you. Two of us went for Sunday lunch, took the bar seats by the brazier along the edge of the hall, and ordered the half-pig set at 41,000 won and a pot of doenjang sulbap (soybean-paste rice) at 9,000 won; aged kimchi with galchisokjeot (fermented hairtail sauce) was the best bite of the meal. With private rooms as well as the hall, Anmin Busan suits both a family meal and a team dinner.

Hi everyone ~ it's Ppomori! 🐣 Today I'm bringing you my review of Anmin Busan, a Korean BBQ place near Seomyeon where the staff grill everything for you ~! Let's get into it!

Where is Anmin Busan? On the road from Seomyeon Station to Bujeon Station

Anmin Busan, a Seomyeon pork belly favorite, is located on the way from Seomyeon Station toward Bujeon Station!

Exterior of Anmin Busan near Seomyeon Station

The building exterior is so grand haha. How is this a BBQ restaurant?! Anmin's exterior gives off such a luxe feel!

Turns out there are also branches in Sajik and Myeongji besides Seomyeon ~

Sunday lunch: the hall nearly full, private rooms available

Interior of Anmin Busan with soft waiting chairs

The interior is just as impressive as the exterior! Totally upscale...!!! There are even soft chairs to wait on haha.

I visited during Sunday lunch hours and there were quite a lot of people...!!! The hall was nearly full!! Besides the hall seats, there are private rooms too, so it looks great for a family meal ~

Raw meat displayed at Anmin Busan

Isn't the meat's color amazing..! They must be confident in their meat to display it like this haha.

Bar seats by the brazier: barley tea and a full lineup of dipping sauces

Side dishes and barley tea set at the bar seats

We sat at the bar seats near the edge of the hall!

The side dishes were laid out so neatly and the water was barley tea!!! A place that serves barley tea... already smells like a good restaurant haha.

Sign explaining the sauces served with the meat

There was an explanation of the sauces to pair with the meat — so many kinds haha.

Several kinds of dipping sauces for the meat

Ordering is simple, done via tablet!

Tablet ordering screen menu

There's a half-portion set menu that comes with pork belly, pork neck, and pork rind together! A set that even includes pork rind is pretty unusual haha. I love being able to try different cuts!!!

The 41,000-won half-pig set for two: is it enough food?

Since I visited with two people, I ordered the whole-pig half-portion set (41.0) — done!

They also brought over some cabbage salad! Making the spread even fancier haha.

Brazier in front of the bar seats with meat set on top

Right in front of the bar seats there was a brazier like this! You can watch the meat being grilled right in front of you haha.

The meat we ordered arrived! Vegetables came along too, nice!!! At first the portion looked smaller than expected..? But not at all! It was just right for two people!!

Oiling up the grill plate haha. The staff member was neatly grilling the meat haha. Once cooked, they placed each piece one by one onto a plate ~

They explained the sauces too — the left one is shiitake mushroom + wasabi, the white sauce on the right is cheese sauce (cheese sauce, so unusual...!!!), and the red sauce is galchisokjeot (fermented hairtail entrails sauce).

Three sauces: shiitake-wasabi, cheese, and galchisokjeot

The staff member grilling away diligently haha. Once each piece was fully cooked, they plated everything piece by piece so prettily, and then—

Plated grilled meat and grilled vegetables

Paprika, mushrooms, green onion, tomato — garnish galore ~!~!!!

And underneath they even put a flame going so it stays warm until the end — such a nice touch haha.

Sauce pairings in order: salt, shiitake-wasabi, galchisokjeot, cheese

It was fun trying all sorts of combinations with the different sauces haha.

A piece of grilled pork belly dipped in sauce

They recommended salt for the first bite, so I went with salt ~ starting with salt is the golden rule everywhere!!!

They said the grilled vegetables pair well with fish sauce — sweet and delicious haha.

Then a piece of meat with shiitake-wasabi on top, yum ~

The pork rind, dipped into soybean powder ~

They recommended aged kimchi + galchisokjeot, and this was honestly my favorite combo!

They said the ssamjang (dipping paste) is homemade barley ssamjang, so I tried wrapping a lettuce wrap with it too haha.

I also tried the cheese sauce — the sauce itself was tasty, but somehow it didn't quite match with the meat for me...? Though my friend who came with me said it was delicious!!

Doenjang sulbap at 9,000 won: a full pot, true to its name

Timed my rice order while eating the meat!! Ordered the doenjang sulbap (9.0) haha. You've gotta finish meat with doenjang, right.... T_T

Doenjang sulbap served in a whole pot

True to its name — a pot of doenjang sulbap — it really does come out in a whole pot hahaha. I was so surprised...!!! Such great value for the price?! Packed with ingredients, and even dumpling soup dough pieces were mixed in!

Eating the leftover meat along with the doenjang sulbap made for a hearty weekend lunch, all wrapped up haha.

Verdict: Anmin Busan works for family meals and room dinners alike

Anmin Busan, a Seomyeon pork belly favorite, matches its upscale exterior and interior with really clean, well put-together spreads ~ I thought it'd be perfect for a family gathering! There were actually quite a few older customers in the hall too, so it'd be great to come here for a family meal haha.

Since the staff grill everything for you, it's easy to eat, and with so many sauce varieties to pair with the meat, I never got tired of it and really enjoyed the meal haha. I'd recommend it as a Seomyeon pork belly spot. And since there are private rooms too, I especially recommend it if you're looking for a Busan group dinner spot, a Busan gathering spot, or a Seomyeon private-room dinner spot ~!~!
