Seomyeon pork BBQ with pine pollen salt dip for two: Anmin Busan

In short

Anmin Busan is a raw pork brazier-grill restaurant near Exit 12 of Seomyeon Station in Busanjin, Busan. On a weeknight visit with a friend, the writer ordered 3 servings of whole raw pork belly for 39,000 won, 1 serving of pork neck for 13,000 won, hwang doenjang (soybean paste) stew and white rice, dipping the meat in pine pollen salt, curry bean powder and cumin. Staff grill the meat at the table and a mini brazier keeps it warm, making Anmin Busan an easy pick in Seomyeon for a date or a small get-together.

Exterior of the Anmin Busan restaurant

Hi, this is Dongnamu~ I've been so busy lately I haven't been able to post much on the blog ㅠ Today's review is of a Seomyeon restaurant, 'Anmin Busan.' I'd had a great experience at an Anmin location in Myeongji before, and it looks like a new branch just opened in Seomyeon~ So I rushed over with a friend right away!

Building entrance of Anmin Busan near Seomyeon Station

For parking at Anmin Seomyeon, you can use the old Seomyeon NC parking lot or the Samhan private parking lot separately.

Waiting seats with a Catch Table reservation kiosk

Walking into Anmin Busan on a weeknight with no wait

At the entrance of Anmin Busan there's a Catch Table reservation kiosk and waiting seats. I visited on a weeknight evening, so I got seated right away without waiting!

Clean, calm interior seating at Anmin Busan

Anmin Seomyeon had an overall clean, calm atmosphere. It felt a bit more polished and stylish than your typical Korean BBQ place. It seemed like a good spot to grab meat with friends, but also fine for a date or a casual get-together.

Display case of raw pork for brazier grilling

Look at the meat in the display case — a true raw pork brazier-grill specialist! The color was gorgeous~

The restroom is next to the elevator in the building lobby, and the passcode is 0815.

Table set with a grill plate and mini brazier

The table had all the basic tableware neatly set. There's a grill plate for cooking the meat, plus a mini brazier so it doesn't get cold.

Plate of raw pork belly and pork neck ordered

What two people ordered at Anmin Busan

The two of us ordered 3 servings of pork belly for ₩39,000, 1 serving of pork neck for ₩13,000, 2 bowls of white rice for ₩2,000, and crab doenjang stew for ₩6,000.

*A minimum of 3 servings is required on the first grilled-meat order; after that, you can add servings one at a time.

An upscale-looking table spread at the Korean BBQ restaurant

Totally looks like an upscale Korean BBQ place, right?!

Basic side dishes including pickles and green onion kimchi

Side dishes and the sauce tray: pine pollen salt, curry bean powder, cumin

The basic spread at Anmin Busan included seasonal pickles, green onion kimchi, barley-based ssamjang (dipping paste), lettuce wraps, cabbage salad, washed kimchi, yuzu-ginger, and garlic pickle. Rather than just having a lot of side dishes for the sake of it, it felt like they were designed to let you enjoy the meat in different ways — impressive!

Assortment of sauces including pine pollen salt and cumin seasoning

There were tons of sauces too, right? Pine pollen salt, curry bean powder, and a spicy cumin sauce blended from over ten ingredients came as the basic three, so you could dip your meat according to taste. There was also shiitake wasabi, salted hairtail guts sauce, fish sauce, and cheese fondue sauce, so it seemed great for company dinners or for bringing along picky eaters.

Whole pork belly and vegetables on the grill

How were the 3 servings of whole raw pork belly?

Let's start with the pork belly! It came with mushrooms, bell peppers, and shishito peppers alongside the meat, which was a nice touch.

Pork belly grilling under the smoke extractor

Waiting patiently...😌😌😌 By the way, the smoke extractor right above the table is seriously powerful haha

What a picture-perfect combination~

Nicely browned whole pork belly

Ugh... I ate this just a few days ago and I already want it again ㅜㅜ They grilled the meat so well!!

Crab doenjang stew with a whole crab inside

Once we portioned out the doenjang stew with a whole crab in it, we got down to business properly!

First bite dipped in the pine pollen salt~ yum

With so many side dishes, the lettuce wraps went down faster than usual haha

Pork belly dipped in cheese fondue sauce

I thought the cheese fondue sauce would be heavy, but it was actually light and clean, and the homemade-tasting green onion kimchi was delicious too!!

Ordered more before the meat-eating momentum died down — the pork neck~

The additional order of whole raw pork neck

They cut the pork neck into nice big pieces~ actually a plus in my book!

The pork neck was really tasty too! But between the two of us, pork belly still won out ><

Final verdict on Anmin Busan

If you're looking for a clean, good-vibe Korean BBQ spot in Seomyeon, I'd recommend Anmin. Both the pork belly and pork neck were great in flavor on their own, and having so many accompaniments made it fun to mix and match. The restaurant is cleaner and calmer than your typical BBQ place, so it worked well for a date, a meal with friends, or a casual get-together. A Seomyeon Korean BBQ spot that satisfied on every front — I'd definitely go back :)
