Today I visited a café with really great vibes near Gongdeok Station, tucked into an alley off the Gyeongui Line Forest Park: Ieo Coffee Roasters Gongdeok Branch.

Ieo Coffee Roasters Gongdeok Branch sits in the alley between Daeheung Station and Gongdeok Station, closest to Exit 3 of Daeheung Station. Walk about 5 minutes and you'll get there in no time. As you enter the alley, you'll see a brown brick building — the first floor is Ieo Coffee Roasters. I remember walking by once thinking, oh? there's a café here too?

Inside Ieo Coffee Roasters: a quiet room of two-seat tables

Inside Ieo Coffee Roasters Gongdeok Branch, the space felt cozy and warm — sort of narrow but sort of spacious at the same time. Most of the tables are 2-seaters, plus there's a bar table and one 4-seat table. So it's not a loud café vibe at all — it's a good place for quiet chats.

And through the curtains, I could see a roasting machine! Ieo Coffee Roasters apparently roasts its own beans in-house, so it was pretty cool to see the machine right there in the back haha.

Here's the menu board. Americano is ₩4,300 — not expensive for an independent café. Signature drinks: Almond Latte ₩6,000, Cream Almond ₩5,800, Basil Milk Tea ₩5,500.

For brewed coffee, you can pick the beans to your taste, and there were quite a few options. These beans are also sold separately.

There were 4 kinds of desserts: Egg Financier ₩4,100, Marron Basque Cheesecake ₩6,800, Cinnamon Bun ₩4,800, White Macadamia Cookie ₩4,300. This Daeheung Station-area café roasts its own beans, makes its own syrups, and even makes its own desserts. Such thoughtfully made menu items 💕

Choosing your beans for the americano: how the nutty roast tasted

What I ordered: ✔️Iced Americano ✔️Almond Latte ✔️Egg Financier

When you order an iced americano, they ask which beans you want: roasted / acidic / decaf. Yes — you can even choose your beans for americano! I'm a die-hard fan of roasted flavor, so I went with the roasted beans, and it came out with chocolate notes and just a hint of acidity — really delicious ☕️

What the signature almond latte at Ieo Coffee Roasters tastes like

This is the signature Almond Latte at Ieo Coffee Roasters Gongdeok Branch. The house-made almond milk base that goes into it is apparently made through a 12-hour process. Not sweet, but sweet, you know what I mean? Haha. And it was so nutty and roasted-tasting.

The egg financier that looks like an egg tart

I thought it was an egg tart, but it turned out to be an egg financier (financier — a small buttery cake)! Since it's one dessert per person, I ordered two — the tart-like base at the bottom is actually financier, so it's on the firmer side. The filling is moist and sweet — really tasty. It went perfectly with the americano 👍 Ieo Coffee Roasters apparently makes all its desserts in-house too. No wonder it tasted so good. You could taste the care put into it.

Is Ieo Coffee Roasters Gongdeok Branch worth a visit?

My overall take: I was so happy to discover a cozy, quiet café near the Gyeongui Line Forest Park. It really felt like a place you'd come to relax. And since they roast their own beans, the coffee was great too — very satisfied! Next time I'll have to try the basil milk tea.
