What kind of café is Café Diaz Galleria Gwanggyo?

Diaz is seriously a famous cake spot in Suwon, near Gwanggyo. It's on the basement level of Galleria Gwanggyo, so it's easy to swing by naturally after a stop at the department store.

If you've been hunting for a cake spot near Gwanggyo, you've probably heard this name at least once. It's known as one of the top dessert spots among Gwanggyo cafés, so I went in with high expectations — and it still exceeded them.

Everything looked so, so good... Honestly I wanted the chocolate cake, but I figured a fruit cake was the right call for a picnic, so I went with that!! Highly, highly recommend it as the dessert to bring to the lake park ㅜㅜ

How was the fruit slice cake at Café Diaz?

At Café Diaz I ordered the fruit slice cake, an americano, and peppermint tea. The fruit slice cake was genuinely packed with fruit inside — I was moved from the very first bite.

Melon, peach, tangerine, blueberry, green grape, even fig — having this much variety of fruit packed into a single slice made the price feel totally worth it.

The cream here is genuinely not sweet, and it's delicious. Isn't that basically the highest compliment for a Korean palate, haha. The cream doesn't get in the way of the fruit's natural sweetness, so I kept going back for more. The combo with the cream is honestly wild.

The americano and peppermint tea also nail the basics really well. Especially the pairing of the fruit slice cake with the americano — that was genuinely great.

The bright, tangy fruit cake meeting the bitter americano had me going back and forth between the two nonstop. If you're on a Gwanggyo café tour, I really recommend trying this combo at least once.

Where to sit for a picnic at Gwanggyo Lake Park

I packed the cake from Café Diaz to go and headed to Gwanggyo Lake Park for a picnic. For the picnic spot, head toward Jaeminanbat — you can comfortably set up on the lawn there.

The weather was so good that sitting on the grass eating cake made me genuinely so happy. There are also shaded spots, so it's fine even on a day with strong sun.

We went by chance, and unbelievably(?) there was a jazz festival happening, so we ended up randomly catching a performance by Lee Eun-mi ㅠㅠ Such an unexpected stroke of luck!
