Gangnam café open till 10:30pm: matcha choco latte, Something About

A recommendation for a large café near Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station where the desserts are tasty and it's easy to talk — Something About Coffee.

After dinner at Gangnam Station, I was looking for a coffee spot that wasn't loud and stayed open relatively late, and that's how I ended up at Something About Coffee. It's a large café so seating was plenty, the mood was great for chatting, and the coffee and desserts were delicious too — let me start the recommendation.

Where is Something About Coffee and how do you get there from Sinnonhyeon Station?

Inside the three floors and terrace seats at Something About Coffee

The 1st floor has slightly lower ceilings with yellow lighting, giving it a cozy, talk-friendly mood.

It wasn't loud at all, which I really liked. Besides people chatting, there were plenty of people working on laptops or reading. There were tables from 2-person sizes up to group seating, so it'd be great for bigger gatherings too.

On the way up to the 2nd floor, there's this big, glamorous chandelier.

The 2nd floor also has lots of seats on both sides. The tables weren't packed tightly together, which made it easy to talk.

There's a 3rd floor too, and the 2nd and 3rd floors both have outdoor terrace seating! Hard to believe a café like this exists right in the middle of Gangnam 👍

Something About Coffee menu and prices

Drinks are ₩6,500 for an americano and ₩7,000 for a latte, similar to typical Gangnam café prices. Besides coffee, there's a good range of teas and ades, plus lots of cream-topped drinks.

There were quite a few signature cream drinks. Besides einspänner, there were many more options. As a matcha-and-chocolate addict, I was mesmerized into ordering the matcha cream choco latte.

What is left in the dessert showcase at 8pm?

Another reason I came to Something About Coffee was the desserts! I'd seen photos of them and knew I had to try this place. There's everything from cakes to baked goods. But since I arrived around 8pm after dinner, a lot of the desserts were already sold out.

There were financiers too.

I also picked this lemon Earl Grey financier.

There was also a cream cheese fig financier, plus cookies and scones.

The cakes looked so delicious! Walnut persimmon cheesecake, blueberry, yellow cheese, pistachio cheesecake — so many options! The candied walnuts on top looked so good that I went with the walnut persimmon cheesecake.

The drink and dessert both looked so good 💕

The americano was nutty and delicious, and if you like matcha and chocolate, I highly, highly recommend the matcha cream choco latte!! The matcha cream is rich, slightly bitter, and sweet. The chocolate underneath is deep in flavor too, and the two went so well together 💖

And the desserts were delicious too. This cake isn't something you see often, so it was even more enjoyable. Pecans, pine nuts, and persimmon on top, and the cream layer in the middle is packed with nuts too, so it's nutty and tasty. 👍 Recommended for nut lovers!

And the lemon Earl Grey financier that was totally my taste. The lemon coating on the outside is refreshingly sweet, and the Earl Grey financier is fragrant and deep. The desserts are delicious, the café is huge with plenty of seats, and it's great for conversation, so I highly recommend it as a café near Sinnonhyeon Station or Gangnam Station :)
