Mangwon-dong bakery bread reheated in an air fryer: Boulangerie Copain
In short
Boulangerie Copain is a takeout-only bakery on Huiujeong-ro in Mangwon-dong, Seoul, featured on the TV show Life's Masters in 2018 for its baguettes and croissants. A fig cream cheese baguette, castella cream bread, croissant, chocolate palmier and melon cream bread were packed for a picnic at Mangwon Hangang Park, then refrigerated overnight and reheated the next day in an air fryer at 160°C for 5-6 minutes. Not quite the same as fresh from the oven, but the baguette's crisp texture came back after reheating.

I often visit Mangwon-dong since it lets me enjoy cute shops, great restaurants and cafés, and the Han River park all in one trip! Today I want to introduce a Mangwon-dong bakery favorite, "Boulangerie Copain."

Whenever I go to the park, I pack a picnic mat, stop by a famous bakery for takeout bread, and enjoy a picnic. I stopped by planning to watch the sunset over the Mangwon Han River while eating bread, but I bought so much delicious bread and got so full that I ended up just sipping highballs at the park and bringing the bread home instead ㅠ I ate it the next day, but it was so good I wanted to share it anyway. Let's get started with the post~

Where is Boulangerie Copain? A 5-10 minute walk from Mangwon Hangang Park

Boulangerie Copain is about a 15-minute walk from Mangwon Station, so it's a bit far from the subway, but it's only 5–10 minutes from Mangwon Hangang Park, so I'd recommend buying bread here before a picnic there👍🏻 I stopped by before my picnic too, and I really liked how close it was to the park :)
Boulangerie Copain is the bakery that appeared on the baguette/croissant episode of Life's Masters (생활의 달인) on February 26, 2018!
What bread does Boulangerie Copain sell? Baguettes and croissants, takeout only

The shop is takeout-only with no seating, and the bread lineup was centered on baguettes and croissants!

Next to the entrance there were trays, parchment paper, and tongs set up so you could pick out your own bread. Shall we take a look at the bread?

There was a wide variety of bread ready — brioche, loaf bread, kouign-amann, toast, melon cream bread, cheese balls, baguettes, sandwiches, crunch bread, croissants, financiers, lemon cake, and more. However, there weren't any savory bakery items like sausage bread or pizza bread! Since it's the shop known for baguettes and croissants on Life's Masters, the lineup was indeed centered on those two!

The fridge had various sauces, pudding, palmiers, castella cream bread, and more!

They also had coffee, tea, and ades available to order! We planned to drink beer instead so we didn't order any, but bread + iced Americano is such a great picnic combo〰️ The prices were reasonable too, which I liked :)

Receipt review perk and the 7pm time sale at Boulangerie Copain
At Boulangerie Copain, you can get a mini Earl Grey palmier for leaving a Naver receipt review.

The time sale starts at 7pm every day, so if you live nearby, it might be worth visiting a bit later :)
The five breads I picked: fig cream cheese baguette and melon cream bread

There was such a wide variety that I agonized over what to pick before ordering!

The first thing that caught my eye was the fig cream cheese baguette — a crispy baguette generously filled with wine-stewed figs and cream cheese. I love figs, and it's loaded with cream cheese too? I couldn't resist..!!!

Next is the castella cream bread! It's filled with soft milk cream and topped with a generous dusting of castella crumbs — a menu item that never fails.

And the star of the show — the classic croissant! Since this place is famous for its croissants and baguettes, I had to try the croissant at least once.

The chocolate palmier is a sweet, crispy pastry made with unrefined sugar folded into many layers and coated in chocolate.
The melon cream bread is a biscuit packed with melon fragrance, filled with moist melon cream inside — it had a satisfying heft to it and was really filling!
How to store leftover bread and reheat it in an air fryer at 160°C for 5-6 minutes

If you're not eating it the same day, just refrigerate it. The ham and cheese baguette looked pretty unremarkable at first, but it turned out to have a plain, honest, satisfying flavor. Since I refrigerated everything, I ran the ham and cheese baguette through the air fryer at 160°C for 5–6 minutes, and the baguette's texture came back so nicely!
I ate the fig cream cheese baguette cold because of the cream cheese, but there was clearly a noticeable difference between before and after the air fryer, which was a bit of a shame ㅋㅋㅜ It's delicious even without reheating, but the texture after the air fryer was so much better that I couldn't help thinking it would've been even more amazing fresh out of the oven.

So that wraps up my visit to Mangwon-dong bakery "Boulangerie Copain" today. It's a great place to browse and take out a variety of delicious baguettes, croissants, and more — highly recommended for bread lovers❤️
