Beef tripe grill in Goyang: 510g assorted B set at Chodaechang

In short

Chodaechang Baekseok Branch is a beef intestine and tripe grill house and bar in the food alley by Baekseok Station in Goyang, Gyeonggi. Two diners ordered the assorted grill B set (daechang, makchang and teuk-yang, 510g) for 57,000 won plus yang bokkeumbap (tripe fried rice) for 13,000 won and Saero soju with Terra beer, and a staff member grilled everything at the table from start to finish. The daechang had no funky smell and was the best of the three, makchang came last for being chewy, and the fried rice finish made Chodaechang a 1000% return visit.

Charcoal-grilled beef intestines, the signature dish at Chodaechang Baekseok Branch

Today I'm bringing you a review of Dwaeggi's go-to daechang (large intestine) spot. I absolutely love intestine-type meats — gopchang, daechang, makchang — plus chicken feet, gizzards, hagfish, you name it, totally old-man taste buds haha. But you know how hard it is these days to find a good gopchang or daechang place? Small portions, high prices, and if it's expensive AND smells bad... ugh. You know how mad you get when you paid a lot and it's not even good? So I figured, if I'm going to pay an in-between price anyway, let's go somewhere guaranteed good — and that's how I found [Chodaechang near Baekseok Station].

This place has zero smell at all, the sauce is amazing, and get this — it even delivers, because it's a chain! Hoho, no more hunting for daechang spots for me!! This place has even been selected on the Blue Ribbon Survey two years running, 2024 and 2025 — a legendary spot! Tons of celebrities and influencers have raved 'you have to go here when you're in Ilsan,' and it's known as both a top Ilsan meat restaurant and a Baekseok Station bar with a perfect atmosphere... I visited a few times early on and even had it delivered to my house, and in the meantime [Chodaechang] has only gotten more and more popular. So here's Dwaeggi's honest review! Hehe✨ (I took a ton of photos meaning to write about the delivery order too... but I've been busy and still haven't gotten to it lol)

The space has a clean yet warm retro interior. It leans heavily on a brick-red tone that echoes Chodaechang's signature sauce color — pretty distinctive vibe! (Even the interior gets your appetite going lol)

Does Chodaechang work for group dinners and family meals?

Chodaechang Baekseok Branch has a nice spacious layout, so it works great for family meals, couple dates, friend hangouts, and especially group dinners. (In fact, during our visit there were people in the very back group seating who looked like they were on a company dinner — they seemed to be having a blast lol.) For anyone who's avoided bringing the family because kids can't eat daechang or gopchang — don't worry! When you come with kids, they have a full lineup of drinks, ice cream, and even baby meals ready, so it's a great choice for a whole-family outing too.

What we ordered: the 510g assorted grill B set and the price

Today's pick! 💛 We stared at the menu happily agonizing over what to order — (though honestly it was already decided, since daechang is the best thing here! Their gopchang is genuinely amazing too, but the bigger set was too much for two people, so we went with the B set.)

  • Assorted grill B (daechang + makchang + teuk-yang / 510g) set - ₩57,000
  • Yang bokkeumbap (tripe fried rice) - ₩13,000 (Koreans can't resist fried rice!)
  • Saero / Terra - ₩5,000 each

We put together the perfect order: a carb party plus a refreshing soju-beer to wash it all down.

Tableside grilling service and tripe with no funky smell

After ordering, the sizzling charcoal came out, and then the intestines arrived looking incredibly fresh! Chodaechang Baekseok Branch is also known as a natural-tenderizing intestine spot — their special tenderizing method, top-grade ingredients, and signature sauce come together with absolutely zero funky smell. It's not a place that just masks the smell with sauce — the ingredients themselves are fresh AND the sauce is delicious, basically.

And honestly, what touched me most was how attentively the staff grilled everything for us! 🙌 Intestines are actually tricky to grill — easy to burn or turn chewy if the fire's off — but the staff handled it expertly from start to finish, so we got to just relax and eat comfortably! (While they grilled, we happily chatted away lol)

Daechang vs teuk-yang vs makchang: which tasted best?

Time to fill our stomachs after all that chatting, right? Lol. The moment I dipped a nicely browned, savory piece of daechang into the special sauce and popped it in my mouth... the burst of savory juice and that crackly texture nearly knocked me out. Yep, that's the exact flavor I always crave from Chodaechang!! Crispy outside, juicy inside — textbook perfect.

Teuk-yang (premium beef tripe) & makchang: both had that chewy, crunchy signature texture that makes the drinks go down way too easily! Ugh... no wonder so many celebrities and influencers rave about this being the best beef intestine grill in Ilsan. 🥂 If I'm being honest about my personal ranking (specific to this Chodaechang Baekseok location):

Daechang > Gopchang > Teuk-yang > Makchang

I usually like gopchang more than daechang, but true to its name, Chodaechang really does the daechang better!! I still can't forget the first time I had it here... that sauce is incredible lol. The makchang here was a little tough on the jaw, so it ranked lower for me.

Finishing the meal with 13,000-won tripe fried rice

After happily devouring the intestines (like a nine-tailed fox lol), the essential finishing course arrived — yang bokkeumbap (tripe fried rice)! The savory fried rice, crisped against the hot plate, comes topped with chopped green onion and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. Every bite had that chewy tripe texture mixed with a spicy-sweet sauce — the perfect way to end the meal! Somehow, eating the intestines didn't fill me up as much as expected, so finishing with the fried rice felt essential. And it comes out freshly stir-fried and hot, which I loved too lol.

Oh, one more thing! Look at the tables and you'll spot a QR code for a Naver receipt-review event! Ask for your receipt during the meal, write a nice review with a photo, and set 'Save Place + Get Notifications,' and you can get a free serving of either kimchi-mari guksu (cold noodles in kimchi broth) or doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew)! (What kind of steal is this — giving away a pricier menu item for free, I love it!!) If you're planning to visit, make sure to check Naver Reservations or the Place coupon info so you don't miss out on the freebie!

Final verdict on Chodaechang Baekseok Branch

I got to experience firsthand why they've earned the Blue Ribbon two years in a row. (I mean, I've visited repeatedly AND ordered delivery, so that says it all.) True to their slogan of competing on 'taste' alone, Chodaechang Baekseok Branch nailed every category — flavor, service, hospitality, cleanliness. Now I totally get why their Naver reviews and SuperMembers rating are above 4.8! I finally understand why anyone who's been once, whether regular customer or influencer, keeps coming back!

If you're in Ilsan looking for a great meat restaurant, or a spot for a gathering or group dinner, definitely head to 'Chodaechang Baekseok Branch,' a Baekseok Station restaurant and bar! Dwaeggi highly, highly recommends it. Return-visit intent: 1000% (already been back lol). Strongly recommend!! Woohoo!!
