Steak pot rice near Ansan Jungang Station: Dongyang Sotbap
In short
Dongyang Sotbap Ansan Main Branch is a pot rice restaurant about a 7-minute walk from Jungang Station in Ansan, Gyeonggi. I paired steak pot rice with an Oriental salad, yurin-gi, and donkatsu, then refilled scorched-rice tea and side dishes at the self-service bar. Verdict: a satisfying meal at any hour, with no break time.

A warm, satisfying pot rice meal near Ansan Jungang Station
After wondering where to have lunch, I visited Dongyang Sotbap Ansan Main Branch (동양솥밥 안산본점)! When you order pot rice, everything is neatly set out as an individual serving, so it feels completely comfortable whether you are dining with others or eating alone :)
Getting to Dongyang Sotbap Ansan Main Branch from Jungang Station

Dongyang Sotbap Ansan Main Branch is easy to find after about a 7-minute walk from Exit 1 of Ansan Jungang Station toward the downtown area. There are also lots of bus stops nearby, so it is ideal for getting there by public transit!
The building does not provide its own parking, but there are well-equipped public parking lots nearby, so drivers may want to check their locations before coming :)

It is open daily from 10:00 AM to 10:40 PM, which is a major plus: you can comfortably enjoy an early lunch or dinner after work! Around 3 or 4 PM, break times often make it hard to find anywhere to eat, so I really loved that this place has no break time.

A comfortable restaurant for solo diners and groups
When you open the door and step inside, the first thing you notice is the comfort of the spacious, pleasant room -

The clean interior and orderly tables are arranged so that both solo diners and groups can enjoy a comfortable meal.
Meat and seafood pot rice options

Flipping through the menu, I found far more kinds of pot rice than expected, so I could not help falling into the happy dilemma of what to choose 🥹 Along with protein-packed meat options such as aged-kimchi pork belly, minari (water parsley) pork jowl, and dongpo pork pot rice, there were seafood options with cockles, octopus, and eel. It felt like anyone could come here and choose something they love without strong likes or dislikes getting in the way -

Every table has a tablet kiosk, so I could browse the menu, order, and pay right from my seat without calling a staff member! They even thoughtfully provide paper menus for older guests who find kiosks unfamiliar or for anyone wanting a closer look at the menu ✨
From scorched-rice tea to steak pot rice

The self-service bar on one side had warm nurungji sungnyung (scorched-rice tea) and neatly prepared side dishes! It was actually convenient to refill exactly as much as I wanted. The nutty scorched rice was especially right up the alley of both older diners and someone like me with a grandma palate haha.

The Oriental salad we ordered as a pre-meal appetizer! I expected it to come in a tiny bowl, but it arrived in a larger soup bowl than I thought 😂 The ingredients were fresh, and it was great for managing a pre-meal blood sugar spike too 🥗

Our steak pot rice arrived, and just the sight of steak laid over freshly cooked pot rice passed the test 👏

The meat came thinly sliced, so it was tender and effortless to chew! It was well seasoned too, so it did not feel separate from the rice :)

The rice itself came with a sweet-and-salty, savory seasoning, so there was no need to adjust anything—just mix it up and eat! Taking a big spoonful of the fluffy, soft egg on top with the meat and seasoned rice made for such a filling meal 💪

The seaweed soup that came with it was perfect alongside the pot rice! It could be refilled warm as well, which made the meal even more satisfying and substantial :)

A yurin-gi and donkatsu side dish pairing
The combination of side dishes with the pot rice was excellent too! The yurin-gi—crispy outside and moist inside—was paired with a salty, tangy sauce and Cheongyang peppers, making it spicy and refreshing 🎵

The donkatsu breading was wonderfully crisp, and the meat was fairly thick, with a great bite! I recommend this perfect side-dish combination for anyone who might find pot rice alone just a little lacking 👏
