Last weekend, I heard there was a great galbi spot in Uijeongbu, so I went—and I was way more satisfied than I expected, so here I am with a review🫶

Marinated galbi is not something you can easily have at home, right? It is one of my absolute favorite dishes, so I went in with high expectations, and everything from the meat at Manpo Galbi to the atmosphere and service was completely my style..🥹
Manpo Galbi Uijeongbu Main Branch: Location and Hours
Manpo Galbi Uijeongbu Main Branch is on the first floor at 11 Beomgol-ro 145beon-gil, Uijeongbu-si, Gyeonggi-do.

It is near the Gyeonggi Northern Women's New Work Center, so even though it was my first time there, I found it easily without getting lost!

The hours are 11 AM to 11 PM every day!! They are open generously long, so it seemed like an easy place to visit anytime, from lunch through a relaxed dinner gathering🤍
Dedicated Parking and a Spacious, Comfortable Interior

When you are driving around Gyeonggi-do, parking is always essential, right? There is a dedicated parking area right beside the restaurant, so I could park comfortably and go in without any parking stress🚘

That unmistakable scent of a great galbi restaurant right from the entrance. Since the galbi is handmade, lots of people apparently buy it as gift sets too🫢

The dining room is incredibly spacious and clean! The tables are nicely spaced apart, and the ventilation is so good that there was hardly any of that thick smoke or stale smell typical of meat restaurants👍🏻👍🏻 Since the space is so large, I also saw quite a few groups having company dinners or family gatherings!
Ordering Handmade Marinated Galbi and Chadol Doenjang Sulbap

There was such a varied menu! Along with Korean pork fresh galbi and handmade marinated galbi (Korean short ribs), they had LA galbi, house-made Hamheung naengmyeon (cold noodles), and doenjang sulbap (rice soup with soybean-paste stew) to whet your appetite👍🏻👍🏻 Since there were two of us and we wanted a filling meal, we ordered 3 servings of handmade marinated galbi and chadol doenjang sulbap with beef brisket as our meal!!✔️

The table was already set with utensils, so it was nice that we could grab what we needed right away without calling a staff member🫶
A Neat and Generous Spread of Side Dishes

Once we had ordered, the staff quickly laid out all the side dishes, and the spread looked both neat and generous—just looking at it was satisfying💕

Of course there was sweet-and-tangy pickled onion to cut through the richness of the meat, but they were also generous with gungchae (pickled stem lettuce), something you usually only see at upscale meat restaurants. It was so fun pairing the meat with all the different sides.

You could feel the care and home-style touch in every single side dish, so I kept reaching for my chopsticks before the main meat had even arrived.🤤🤤
How the Charcoal-Grilled Handmade Marinated Galbi Tasted

The charcoal came out first. The heat was so good that when we grilled the meat, the juices were locked in before they had a chance to escape, and it was tender the moment it hit my mouth!! Galbi really has to be charcoal-grilled❤️

Three servings of handmade marinated galbi is a lot, right? Such great value for an Uijeongbu restaurant🫶 The meat had closely spaced knife cuts, so you could clearly see that the marinade had soaked deeply all the way in!!

Burning galbi over such good charcoal…🫠 It got a little burnt, but it still tasted amazing!!

The seasoning was not overly intense or artificially sweet; it had a subtle savory depth, and before we knew it, the two of us had completely polished off all 3 servings..🥺

To keep the momentum going as we happily ate the meat, we added chadol doenjang sulbap—and seriously, you have to order itㅠㅠㅠ It was not ordinary Korean BBQ restaurant doenjang jjigae (soybean-paste stew); it truly tasted like the kind of home-cooked meal your mom would make… Happy with every bite💕

Overall, the quality of the meat itself was excellent, and there was also the comfortable, clean atmosphere and great-value prices!!! Nothing was lacking here, so if you are looking for a great galbi or meat restaurant in Uijeongbu, I really hope you give it a visit🫶🫶
