After shopping my heart out at Yeoju Premium Outlets, I started getting hungry. Since I'd come all the way to Yeoju, I didn't want to just grab something quick — I wanted a proper meal at a good Yeoju restaurant, and that's how I ended up at Hwassi2192 Nam-Yeoju Branch 2. It was seriously delicious.

The moment I took a bite of the meat pre-grilled over oak firewood, I thought, "Ah, I'm glad I came here!" There was a subtle smoky aroma and tons of juice, and a staff member grilled everything for us from start to finish, so all we had to do was eat comfortably. Hwassi2192 Nam-Yeoju Branch 2 is located at 939 Yeojunam-ro, Ganam-eup, Yeoju-si, Gyeonggi-do, near Samgun-sageori. It's an easy drive from Yeoju Premium Outlets, and with Jayu CC, Ariji CC, Geumgang CC, and Trinity CC nearby, it's also a great spot to eat before or after a round of golf.

It's also easy to reach from Solmoro CC, Nam-Yeoju GC, Icheon Midas CC, and Dong-Yeoju CC, and it's close to the Nam-Yeoju IC, so it's a convenient stop for visitors coming from Icheon as well as Yeoju. Best of all, the parking lot is spacious, so I didn't have to worry about parking.

I was curious about the name Hwassi2192 — and true to its name, they pre-grill the meat over oak firewood at 2192 degrees Fahrenheit. Since the pre-grilled meat comes straight to the table, you're not scrambling to cook everything from scratch like at a regular BBQ place.

And here's the part I really loved: a staff member grills the meat for you from start to finish.

At a lot of BBQ places, you end up so busy grilling that you barely get to talk with the people you're with. Here, the staff kept an eye on the meat and grilled it for us, which was so relaxing. All we had to do was eat and enjoy it. 😊

Pork neck, belly, and jowl on one platter — juicy from the first bite

I was craving pork that day, so I ordered pork neck, belly, and jowl separately. But after ordering, I found out that the oak-fired grill platter for two already comes with all three cuts together. On top of that, it comes with a complimentary steamed egg, so I'd definitely recommend ordering the platter if you visit.

The meat, pre-grilled over oak firewood, gets finished off on the grill at the table, and the subtle smoky aroma was really nice. Then I took a bite... and the juice just burst! I couldn't help but let out a little gasp as the juice spread through my mouth.

When the staff member handed us the meat, they said, "Don't even dip it in salt, just try it as is." So I took a bite without salt, and I immediately understood why they said that. The meat's own flavor and the subtle smoky aroma were so good that it didn't need salt at all.

Wrapping the pork in radish and perilla leaves at Hwassi2192

The meat was delicious on its own, but since I love wraps, I tried it a few different ways. Sometimes I put the meat on fragrant perilla leaves and radish,

sometimes I rolled it up in wild garlic leaf (myeongi-namul),

sometimes I wrapped it in lettuce with garlic,

and I also tried it with stir-fried kimchi.

Each way of eating had a slightly different flavor, so I kept reaching for more. I kept telling myself "just one more piece!" and before I knew it, I was practically inhaling the food. The combination of the subtly smoky meat with the tangy wild garlic leaf was especially good.

Beef brisket doenjang stew and Yeoju rice at Hwassi2192

Eating meat continuously can get a little greasy after a while, so we ordered beef brisket doenjang (soybean paste) stew partway through. With rich, savory doenjang broth and beef brisket in it, this was seriously the kind of dish that makes you eat more rice.

One bite of meat, one spoonful of doenjang stew, one spoonful of rice! Eating this way meant I never got tired of the meat no matter how much I ate.

And since we were in Yeoju, we couldn't skip Yeoju rice. We ordered a bowl, and needless to say, Yeoju rice needs no introduction. Paired with the beef brisket doenjang stew, I polished off the whole bowl before I knew it.

Does Hwassi2192 have a private room for group gatherings?

The restaurant also has a private room space, which looked perfect for family gatherings, important meals, or group get-togethers. Group dining and reservations are both available, so if you're planning to visit with several people, it might be worth booking ahead.

There's also Wi-Fi, separate restrooms for men and women, and takeout is available, so it seemed like a place that could suit a lot of different situations. It's also worth noting that takeout items come with a 30% discount. If you want to enjoy the meal again at home, takeout isn't a bad option, right?

Why Hwassi2192 is now a regular stop on trips to Yeoju

Since I visit Yeoju often, it's fun to find new favorite spots one by one. This time, Hwassi2192 Nam-Yeoju Branch 2 stuck in my memory as a place I'd like to come back to. I loved being able to try pork neck, belly, and jowl all from the oak-fired grill, and it was also great that the staff grilled everything for us from start to finish so we could eat comfortably. And above all, that smoky aroma and burst of juice with the first bite!

That flavor still lingers in my memory.
