Suwon restaurant for shrimp garlic pizza: The European Haenggung
In short
The European Haenggung Main Branch is a wood-fired pizza and fresh pasta restaurant in front of Hwaseong Haenggung palace in Suwon, Gyeonggi. The shrimp garlic pizza (27,000 won) arrived with four black tiger-sized whole prawns on dough that was golden outside and chewy inside, and the beef ragu fresh pasta (22,000 won) had a springy bite. The flavors at The European Haenggung Main Branch are mild rather than heavy, making it a good pick for a date, a small gathering, or an anniversary meal.

This is Yorijori Tambang~!
I visited The European Haenggung Main Branch, a well-known pizza spot in Haenggung-dong, Suwon — famous especially for its wood-fired pizza. A friend of mine had been here before and recommended it, saying it was delicious, so I went in with high expectations!
Where is The European Haenggung Main Branch, and where do you park?

The European Haenggung Main Branch is located near Hwaseong Haenggung palace — right in front of the Hwaseong Haenggung outdoor public parking lot!
- Daily 11:30 AM – 9:30 PM
- Last order 9:00 PM
- No on-site parking
There's no parking lot at the restaurant itself, but there's a public parking lot right in front, so I'd recommend parking there. (No separate parking support is provided.)

The owner of this wood-fired pizza spot in Haenggung-dong is a chef who used to work at the Shilla Hotel~ It's a restaurant specializing in wood-fired pizza and fresh pasta made by the chef, haha. Even the mayor of Suwon has visited^^
Interior atmosphere and seating

The interior was spacious, and there were even more seats further in. There was group seating too~ It looked like there might be another room outside, but it was pouring rain the day I visited so I couldn't check it out, ugh.
Since it specializes in Western food, there was a good variety of wine — different kinds of wine and champagne. They even had a wine fridge!

The kitchen is open, so you can especially watch the wood-fired pizza being made. There was a wood-fired oven right next to it, but I didn't manage to get a photo, ugh.
The tableware was already set on the table.

You can order by scanning the QR code! If that's difficult, you can also order at the counter, but it's a prepayment system? Ordering through the app is probably also prepay. (We paid at the counter.)
Menu and wine corkage

From starters to mains, wood-fired pizza, and desserts, The European Haenggung Main Branch has it all. And plenty of wines to pair with everything~
- Shrimp garlic pizza ₩27,000
- Beef ragu fresh pasta ₩22,000
- Drink ₩3,500
This is what we ordered~! If you visit The European, I definitely recommend trying the wood-fired pizza and fresh pasta.

The basic side dish is this pickled item? — it's sweet and tangy, so it really cuts through richer dishes, haha.
Shrimp garlic pizza: four whole prawns on wood-fired dough

Since it's called shrimp garlic pizza, I figured it'd come with some basic-sized shrimp, but I had no idea it would come with shrimp this big, haha. Four prawns as large as black tiger shrimp came on top, whoa. First, they add lemon on top for a bit of freshness><haha

The shrimp shell was really crispy, and whether or not it was buttered, it had a nutty, clean flavor!

Since the shrimp were so big, the meat inside was thick and hearty too! Since it's a garlic pizza, there was plenty of whole garlic on it, and the garlic flavor and aroma really came through strong.

For me, the dough has to be delicious for a wood-fired pizza to count, and this one had that clean, chewy texture unique to wood-fired pizza... so good! How can it be baked in a wood oven and still be this chewy, haha? The outside is nice and golden brown, but the inside is chewy! I think it would've been even better dipped in some sauce, haha.

For me, this crust end is the best part — I think the crust edge is always the tastiest part of a wood-fired pizza^^
How does the beef ragu fresh pasta taste?

Pasta with beef ragu. Since it's fresh pasta, I was curious how it would be. It was definitely quite different in texture from regular pasta. With regular pasta noodles, I'd say it's kind of springy? But this fresh pasta had a chewy texture.

They broke the poached egg for us~~ and mixed it into the sauce with the noodles. It made everything a bit more moist, if that makes sense^^
The noodles were chewy, thicker than regular noodles but softer than something like jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodles) — somewhere in the middle, I'd say. The beef ragu sauce was tomato-based and not too strong in flavor, so it was easy to eat without feeling heavy. There was plenty of sauce too, so even scooping it up with a spoon wasn't too salty — it was delicious, haha.
What occasions is this restaurant good for?
From my exploration, the atmosphere was nice, making it a good spot for a date, a small gathering, or an anniversary visit. Overall, the food wasn't too strong in flavor. And that made it even more enjoyable! Both the wood-fired pizza and the fresh pasta were delicious, but since I'm someone who really loves wood-fired pizza, I'd especially recommend trying that one!
