Yeouido IFC Mall tteokbokki, ₩23,000 set packed to go: Hyeonseonine

It's so, so hot out ㅠㅠ On days like this, an indoor date is honestly the best 😁 So I want to recommend a lunch spot near the hottest place in Yeouido right now — The Hyundai / Yeouido IFC Mall. It's Hyeonseonine!!

Where Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch is, and its hours

Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch (현선이네 프리미엄 IFC몰점) is at 10 Gukjegeumyung-ro, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, International Finance Center B2 Street Shop 29. Hours are weekdays 11:00-21:00, weekends 12:00-21:00, with last order at 20:40. Parking is available (paid).

Come out Exit 3 of Yeouido Station and it's right in front of the moving walkway! It's next to the GS convenience store, before you reach the entrance to Yeouido IFC Mall.

Just think of it as being right in front of the moving walkway. If you assume it's above ground and walk past absentmindedly, you might miss it — so everyone please get off at Exit 3, hop on the moving walkway, and keep an eye out for the Hyeonseonine sign 🫵

Seating at Hyeonseonine: indoor tables and corridor seats

There are seats inside the restaurant, and outdoor-style seats right next to it too. It's not truly outdoors — more like tables set up in the hallway?? on the way into IFC Mall. I think they probably added tables outside for when the place gets crowded on weekends and seats run short haha.

★ Took out the Hyeonseoni Set. It'd be great to take it out and eat it at Yeouido Hangang Park too.

Hyeonseonine tteokbokki, from the Yongsan food cart days

Hyeonseonine tteokbokki started out as a food cart in 2004 and is now run as a direct-managed branch — a symbolic tteokbokki spot in Yongsan, they say 🔥🔥 I've been eating here since the Yongsan cart days, and back then it was way too spicy, but now they have a non-spicy mild version too, so I go often.

I'm not exactly a major regular, but I remember it being really delicious back then. At the time, it wasn't common for tteokbokki places to sell alcohol, but they did, so there were a lot of late-night customers. I remember it moved to this location after the food cart street in front of Yongsan Station disappeared. Since then a few more branches have opened around Seoul.

Their instant tteokbokki is apparently famous, but I didn't get to try it, which is a shame 😭 I heard uncooked takeout packs are available too, so everyone please try the instant tteokbokki ‼️

What comes in the ₩23,000 Hyeonseoni Set

The Hyeonseoni Set comes with tteokbokki, fritters, sundae, and gimbap. Isn't that so packed and such good value for ₩23,000 in The Hyundai area! Snack food really is the best 🥹 I took it out because I had another appointment, and they packed it so carefully that I carried it home without a single leak.

Spice-shy? Pick non-spicy over medium at Hyeonseonine

I ordered non-spicy out of the three options — non-spicy / medium / spicy — and it was exactly right for someone who can't handle spice. If you're spice-shy?? then you have to order non-spicy, not medium!!!!! It's more on the spicy side than the sweet, old-school tteokbokki style, so you can eat it with the side dishes without getting sick of it 🤟🤟

The five assorted fritters in the set

The assorted fritters come as sweet potato x1, kimmari (seaweed roll) x1, vegetable x1, mandu (dumpling) x1, and squid x1. My favorites — vegetable and squid — were both in there, so happy happy.

Sundae served with organ meat mixed in

The sundae (blood sausage) came generously packed with organ meat mixed in too 🙏 No off smell from the organ meat, and the sundae itself was chewy and delicious.

Mini gimbap, Hyeonseonine style

The gimbap, packed full of filling, is the mini gimbap style. After eating nothing but convenience store gimbap lately, eating gimbap someone actually hand-rolled was so good ㅠㅠ It's just plain, basic gimbap without anything too strong-flavored, so good good 👏👏

Great value and every single item tasted great — Hyeonseonine! I recommend it to anyone heading to The Hyundai / Yeouido IFC Mall, or anyone looking for a good tteokbokki or snack restaurant in Yeouido 👍👍
