Yeouido IFC Mall takeout before last order, mild set: Hyeonseonine

A full snack platter enjoyed in Yeouido after a day of shopping

I was a little hungry walking back home after finishing my shopping at Yeouido IFC Mall. Near the moving walkway toward Yeouido Station, I noticed a place with an unusually large crowd — turns out it's a famous tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) spot in Yeouido.

I'd been curious about this place for a while, so I decided to try it. Since it was getting late, I packed it up to bring home this time!

It seemed like a comfortable spot for everyone — young students, couples on dates, families — so it's worth stopping by if you're looking for a simple meal inside IFC Mall.

What is the restaurant and its seating like?

"A cozy but tidy little snack shop" — The Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch is on the smaller side, but it's clean and pleasant. There are tables outside the store as well as inside, so there was more seating than I expected.

That said, it gets busy and often fills up completely. If you're visiting late like I did, takeout is a comfortable option. Being inside IFC Mall also made it convenient to grab a quick snack while shopping.

The signature menu items at Hyeonseonine IFC Mall Branch include the Hyeonseoni Combo Set (₩25,000), the Hyeonseoni Set (₩23,000), and the Sunny Set (₩18,000).

I got the Hyeonseoni Set for ₩23,000 and a Coca-Cola for ₩2,000, both to go.

What comes in the Hyeonseoni Set, and what if the mini gimbap is sold out?

"The tteokbokki I used to eat in front of school" — The Hyeonseoni Set is a generous combination of tteokbokki, sundae (Korean blood sausage), assorted fritters, and mini gimbap. That day, the mini gimbap was sold out, so it was swapped for sesame mayo rice balls instead.

The tteokbokki comes in three spice levels — mild, medium, and spicy — and I went with mild.

The chewy rice cakes with the slightly spicy, sweet sauce tasted exactly like the tteokbokki I used to eat at snack shops in front of school. I could see why it's a well-known tteokbokki spot in Yeouido.

How did the sundae, assorted fritters and rice ball taste?

"A snack set that pairs perfectly with tteokbokki" — With the sundae, fritters, and rice balls added in, it made for quite a hearty meal.

The assorted fritters included sweet potato, vegetables, kimmari (seaweed rice noodle rolls), and yaki-mandu (fried dumplings), all fried up nice and crispy — great dipped in the tteokbokki sauce.

This one really called for beer haha.

The rice balls also had a bigger portion than I expected, and with the seaweed flakes and sauce added, they went great with the tteokbokki.

Being able to enjoy so many different snacks at once meant just one set was plenty filling.

An easy meal after shopping at IFC Mall

This is a good place to stop by when you want a light, easy meal after a movie or shopping. It's convenient since it's right inside IFC Mall, and it also worked well as takeout to eat at home.

Bringing it home and eating slowly actually made it more fun, mixing and matching everything. The ingredients were fresh and the service was friendly — I'd love to come back next time I'm in Yeouido.

I was disappointed the mini gimbap was sold out this time, so I'll have to try it next visit!
