Lunch with a 16-month-old after the second baby's ultrasound

After my second baby's first detailed ultrasound, lunchtime rolled around at an awkward hour. Looking for something to eat with my 16-month-old, I headed to Insaeng Donkatsu, a well-known pork cutlet spot in Dongtan 2 that we already order delivery from all the time.

It's located in the Mokdong shopping complex, and the building has a spacious parking lot, so parking was easy! If you'd rather park outdoors, there's a public parking lot about a 5-minute walk away.

A close friend of mine who used to live in Suwon a few years ago always eats here whenever she's in Dongtan — Insaeng Donkatsu! After I had my first baby last year, I started ordering it for delivery and have kept eating it ever since (I was ordering from a branch near my house). When I heard a location opened in Mokdong, Dongtan 2, I visited an actual store for the first time!

The interior is gorgeous from the entrance on — walking in felt like I'd landed in Japan haha. Felt like I was traveling abroad with my baby~~~ We came just for lunch but ended up in a great mood!

There's also a self-serve bar on one side that was so spotless I could tell hygiene management here is thorough. They had baby cutlery there too, plus take-out containers in case there were leftovers.

Baby cutlery and a high chair: nothing extra to pack

Insaeng Donkatsu Dongtan Mokdong Branch is a great spot in Mokdong for eating with a baby! They had a kids' spoon and fork, so my 16-month-old ate by herself just fine. No need to bring your own baby dishes — they have it all (a baby chair too). Highly recommend for anyone in Dongtan Mokdong looking for a baby-friendly place to eat!

The spicy cream pork cutlet and signature lotus root

My all-time favorite: spicy cream pork cutlet. You dip the crispy cutlet into the spicy cream sauce — if you visit Insaeng Donkatsu, you have to try this! It's my absolute favorite menu item.

And the signature lotus root~~~ If you come to Insaeng Donkatsu, you have to try the lotus root. So crispy and delicious~

Three adults, one meal, and the basic pork cutlet packed to go

On top is the udon + basic pork cutlet set, below is the spicy cream pork cutlet — the portions are seriously huge, right? There were three of us and... we still ended up packing the basic pork cutlet to take home.

Rice, miso soup (Japanese-style fermented soybean soup), salad, and pork cutlet — clean and varied, which I loved. We ordered two portions for two people and there was so much food... My husband and I both eat a lot, and it was great that it tasted good and came in generous portions. (We usually order lots of sides on top of two servings anyway.)

How the color of the fried coating shows the oil quality

Since it's eaten fresh in the restaurant, it's warm and crispy. (As a former bakery owner who's fried a lot of croquettes, I can tell just from the color) — they're really using clean oil haha.

The salad was also super crunchy and delicious~ Fresh vegetables are everything~

My favorite spicy cream pork cutlet at Insaeng Donkatsu Dongtan Mokdong Branch — going back to eat it again soon!!!!!!!!! I should meet up with my friend who lives in Mokdong soon. I'll show her my favorite spot! (Though she probably already knows haha)

There's bok choy in the udon too! Everything from start to finish is delicious~~~ I love eating pork cutlet with udon together, so I was really happy they had a set menu for it.

For my baby, I mixed rice into the miso soup and cut up the udon and pork cutlet, and she ate it all up so well~ A place where you can really eat together with a 16-month-old!

Back a few days later with my parents, paid out of pocket

The interior is so pretty it feels like traveling haha. I liked it so much this day that a few days later I came back again with my parents, paying out of pocket! The set is filling, the price is fair, and the fried cutlet isn't greasy at all — crispy through and through~ Planning to come back again soon! Oh, and the store is very clean and the staff are so kind!
