Laptop-friendly café in Gongdo, Anseong with sunset light: Chat Baker
In short
Chat Baker Brunch & Bakery Café is a large brunch and bakery café in Majeong-ri, Gongdo-eup, Anseong, Gyeonggi. A couple visited Chat Baker at the weekend peak and stayed for hours with their laptops, enjoying jazz played on LP records and salt bread. The parking lot was nearly full, but there were seats to spare on the 2nd floor, and late-afternoon sunlight streamed across the green interior. If you want a large Anseong café to settle into for a long stay, Chat Baker is worth timing for sunset.

How busy is Chat Baker's parking at the weekend peak?
Chat Baker is a large café in Majeong-ri, Gongdo-eup, Anseong, and between 3 and 4 p.m. on a weekend even its big parking lot was nearly full. By evening many customers had left and there were plenty of spots.
Last weekend my husband and I went to Chat Baker in Gongdo, Anseong. I found it while searching for large cafés around Pyeongtaek and Anseong, and the mood looked really pretty in photos. We arrived at exactly the busiest time, around 3 to 4 p.m.
As expected for a weekend peak, the parking lot was almost full, and we waited a bit until a spot opened up. The lot itself is quite large, as you'd expect from a big café in Gongdo, Anseong, but with so many visitors at peak time we still had to wait a little. When we left in the evening, though, lots of customers had gone and there were plenty of open spots.

What does Chat Baker look like inside and out?
Chat Baker's exterior has green accents, so it stands out right away even from far off. It isn't a standalone café building; the same building also has a space like a clothing shop.
It's exactly the kind of atmospheric large café you see all over Instagram these days! At first it seemed a little unusual, but once you step inside, the café space is quite big.

Why Chat Baker's 2nd floor beats the 1st floor
Even at the weekend peak, Chat Baker had quite a few open seats, more than I expected. The 1st floor has plenty of seating too, but personally I liked the 2nd floor better.

The 2nd floor has a few more seats and a airy, open layout, so even with lots of people it never felt stuffy and was nice for a long stay.

Chat Baker's 1st-floor terrace and water feature behind the glass
There are terrace seats on the 1st floor too, and looking from inside you can see a spot where water falls like a waterfall down the glass, which looks refreshing just to watch. It was a little hot during the day, and watching the water flow made it feel cooler somehow, haha.

Is Chat Baker a good café for working on a laptop?
Chat Baker is spacious and the seating is laid out fairly comfortably, so it was fine for opening a laptop and working. Since we could find seats even at the weekend peak, I think it's a good pick when you want a café for a long stay.
When we go to cafés, my husband and I aren't the type to drink our coffee and leave right away; we like to open our laptops and stay for a while. This place suited us well.
An Anseong café that plays jazz on LP records
My favorite thing about Chat Baker was that they play music on LP records! If you're looking for an LP café in Anseong, I think you'll like this atmosphere quite a lot.
A staff member changes the records from time to time and plays jazzy music, and it fits the café's mood really well. You can also watch the LP spinning up close, and I kept finding myself watching it, haha.

Is Chat Baker's salt bread as good as people say?
Chat Baker's salt bread (a buttery roll with a salted crust) was really crispy on the outside, with a great texture. At the time of our visit, you could get the salt bread by joining their Naver review event.
I looked up reviews briefly before coming, and a lot of them said the salt bread was especially good. So we bought the other breads ourselves and tried the salt bread, which we got through the event. Honestly, I first thought all salt breads would be pretty similar, but now I see why people rave about it, haha. It's worth a try for anyone hunting for good salt bread in Anseong.

Warming up your own bread at Chat Baker
Chat Baker had quite a variety of baked goods, and if you want your bread warm, you can heat it yourself in a microwave or oven.

Even bread that has cooled a bit can be eaten warm, and I liked that too.

What brunch and meals does Chat Baker serve?
Chat Baker isn't just a café with bread and coffee; the brunch and meal menu was quite varied too.

From risotto, gnocchi and pasta to all kinds of bingsu, it looked fine for a light meal, not just a café stop. If we come back, I'd like to try the dinner menu too.

Why Chat Baker is especially pretty at sunset
At sunset, the late-afternoon light stretches deep into Chat Baker and mixes with the green interior, and it was really pretty. Personally, I'd quite recommend visiting around sunset.
Before long the sun started to go down, and the café looked gorgeous. With the sun setting early these days, the late light reaches far into the café, and it was almost like art. The green interior and the sunlight blended together and gave a different mood from the daytime.
Is Chat Baker worth it as a large café in Anseong?
Chat Baker was a large café in Gongdo, Anseong that was spacious, easy to work in on a laptop, and above all impressive for the atmosphere its LP music creates. The parking lot can fill up on weekend afternoons, but there were quite a few seats inside, and visiting a little later looked much easier for parking.
We came casually while searching for large cafés in Anseong, and it was much better than I expected. The salt bread was good and the mood was nice, so it also looked fine for a date. If you're looking for a recommended date café in Anseong, it's worth remembering Chat Baker :)
